Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 3 - 1st Session

After Losing a session and a half to rain yesterday Kent will be looking to bowl out Middlesex twice in two days.

After surviving the opening bowlers Strauss hits a ball straight at Khan off the bowling of Hall on 12 and Kent are off to a good start with Middlesex 22/1.

The two Ed's are at the crease and a batting well, if a little slowly and its not until the introduction of Ferley just before lunch that Kent make their next breakthrough.

Shortly afterwards the umpire calls lunch at 58/2.

Good stuff. Looked like a bit of a loose shot to get Joyce out; He wasn't using his 'Ed' when playing that shot. ;)

I'm sorry.... :o

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 3 - 2nd Session

A better session for the home team and Ed Smith is batting with some confidence and soon celebrates his 50.

Smith and Styris are looking set at the crease until Ferley strikes again.

Middlesex make it to tea without further loss and the score moves along to 122/3.

Yes! Ed Smith batting well! Come on Middlesex! My home county! :p

Nice presentation, Kev. Saying that I hope Kent win would be a lie...:p

Interesting game developing here.

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 3 - 3rd Session

Middlesex emerge from the tea break in a defiant mood as Godleman and Smith continue their partnership, with Smith celebrating his century in good time.

The pair look set for a big partnership with Smith making the shots and Godleman batting at a steady pace, but out of nowhere at 5:44pm Justin Kemp unleashes a snorter of a delivery to remove Godleman for 43.

With only 2 minutes of the session remaining Khan claims the key wicket of Smith for 133.

Middlesex finish the day with 5 wickets down and look to have saved the game as Kent will need to take 15 wickets tomorrow.

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 4 - 1st Session

The day starts well for Kent, as in the second onver of the day Fulton takes a catch from Ferley's bowling to dismiss Dalyrymple for 2.

6thwicketny9.jpg

With only 1 run added to the score Nash is runout by a direct hit to the stumps.

7thwicketbo2.jpg

Middlesex are in disarray as 2 overs later Louw goes the same way. Middlesex have gone from 233/5 to 239/8 in around half an hour.

8thwicketuk6.jpg

The ninth wicket partnership lasts a little longer and Betts makes it to 13 before Dexter catches him in the slips from the bowling of Hall to take the score to 259/9.

9thwicketup2.jpg

Robbie Joseph takes the final wicket with the score on 264 dismissing Keegan, its a pretty straight forward catch, this time from van Jaarsveld.

After such a good start Kent will be slightly disapointed that its taken almost the whole session to bowl Middlesex out and Strauss and Smith only have to face 2 overs following on before lunch is called with the score on 0/0.

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 4 - 2nd Session

The game looks certain for a draw as Strauss and Smith make no real effort to score runs and dont look like pushing the run rate along until quite late on in the session.

As Middlesex play with a bit more confidence Kent pull a wicket out from nowhere as Ferley strikes again. Robbie Joseph takes the catch to dismiss the 1st innings dangerman Smith for just 21.

1stwicketcj6.jpg

Ed Joyce joins Andrew Strauss at the wicket and the two players bat out the remainder of the session, going in for tea at 42/1.

This will be a dull draw I'm afraid, c'mon Kev prove me wrong.

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
4th Day - Final Session

There is a glimmer of hope for Kent just 10 minutes into the final session. With the score on 52 Ed Joyce is run out off the bowling of Ferley for just 4.

2ndwicketdw7.jpg

Hope grows as Strauss makes the exact same error on 26.

3rdwicketgw3.jpg

Styris is next to go, for just 2. This time run out off the bowling of Hall. Middlesex are falling apart here.

4thwickethl3.jpg

Hall strikes again as Dalrymple edges behind and Jones takes the catch.

5thwicketir6.jpg

Godleman and Nash restore some Middlesex sanity. Surviving 3 very good LBW shouts from Ferley, they manage to hang on to draw the match.

Kent will rue the rain late on on day 2 and will feel they could have won easily if not for the lost overs.

statsmz6.jpg

Despite the Draw, Kent still top the table at this early stage of the season.
