Story Kent - A Cricket07 Story - Season Finished

I sensed the Durham batsmen were getting rather frustrated by lack of scoring oppurtunities and got out to silly shots.
Not really. Most of the catches were edges while blocking. The lower order just couldnt deal with the spinners, even when I wasnt trying to take a wicket I picked one up.

What I meant was that the actual batsmen of Durham were getting a little frustrated. The tailenders did just get caught out from edges.

Some good bowling, Kev. :)

Kent v Somerset - C&G Trophy - Canterbury
1st Innings

Rain overnight left the pitch damp but luckily the rainclouds have cleared and its a fine but cold April day.

Kent won the toss and elect to put Somerset to bat.

Robbie Joseph opens the bowling and makes an instant impact. Somerset are off to the worst possible start as Kemp catches Wood first ball of the match.

1stwicketfp7.jpg

Joseph continues his fine start as in the 3rd over he adds to his tally with the wicket of White. Joseph is now has 2 wickets for no runs and Somerset are 2/2.

2ndwicketiu7.jpg

Trescothick and Francis are together at the crease and charged with steering Somerset out of disaster. Trescothick opens his account with a huge six and Francis responds likewise. Trescothick manages another six but then Somerset suffer yet another setback as Francis is runout, leaving Somerset 21 for 3 wickets.

3rdwickethi6.jpg

Trescothick manages another six but after 10 overs Somerset are 27/3.
Blackwell goes after Cook and hits 3 sixes, 2 in the same over.. But Somerset are struggling to score with little else being scored except for the sixes. It takes until the 19th over for the first four of the match to be scored and after 20 overs Somerset are in big trouble at 52/3.

Min Patel takes the next wicket for Kent, bowling Blackwell for 22 and its 61/4 as Woodman walks out.

4thwicketqk9.jpg

Woodman is back in the pavillion without the score increasing.

5thwicketex2.jpg

The final nail in Somerset's coffin is hammered in as Trescothick is bowled by Kemp for 28 and suddenly Somerset are 63 for the loss of six wickets.

6thwicketmq5.jpg

Durston is next to fall, bowled by Patel for 3 in the 37th over with the score on 75.

7thwicketwz9.jpg

Somerset make a brief and halfhearted fightback and manage to get to 102 before Cook gets his first wicket as Gazzard is caught on 17.

8thwicketym3.jpg

Cook strikes again in his next over and Somerset might as well go home now as Hildreth is bowled for 13.

9thwicketll2.jpg

The last wicket partnership puts the rest of the Somerset squad to shame and it takes until the final over of the innings before Khan takes the final wicket and Somerset are all out for 130.

Oh dear Somerset, good bowling by Kent but Somerset were poor.

Good presentation Kev

Kev, can you give me some tips for this game? How are you so good? I'm not very good at bowling on it, and I would be really grateful if you were to give some tips. :)

It may be down to playing the county matches. I've played mostly county matches since getting the game, in fact I've not played a whole international game yet. Also I've had a bit of help from these pitches.

Oh. I've only played on Hard pitches in International matches. But, I'm on 2 star. Is it easier to get wickets on four star?

If you are going to play against Australia on Hard pitches you will find it hard to take wickets ;) I think the AI gets harder to beat as the level increase but not by nearly enough. I played a few 3* games before starting this story (this story was the first time I played on 4*).

Kent v Somerset - C&G Trophy - Canterbury
2nd Innings

Hall and Walker open for Kent and in the second over, Hall opens the scoring with a huge six over deep mid wicket.

With the score on 14 Kent lose their first wicket, As Walker edges a ball from Caddick and the wicketkeeper accepts the catch with ease.

1stwicketfm5.jpg

After 10 overs Kent are well about the required rate, at 39 for 1 but are finding it just as hard as Somerset to score along the ground, with the only real scores coming from sixes.

With Kent on 54 Rob Key edges a ball to the slips and is gone for 15.

2ndwicketxk7.jpg

Caddick strikes again and van Jaarsveld goes the same way as Key but with only 6 on the board to take the score to 61/3.

3rdwicketbx2.jpg

Next to fall is Hall on 26 as he is caught trying to go for a big shot from the bowling of White. Kent are making hard work of this and are 68/4 now.

4thwicketxv0.jpg

Jones is the next to fall as he edges a ball from White into the keepers gloves for 13 and Kent are 97/5 and looking like they might throw this away.

5thwicketmv4.jpg

Francis is next to pick up a wicket as Kemp edges yet another ball straight into the Keeprs gloves on only 7. Somerset are into the tail now with the score on 116 as Cook walks out.

6thwicketkc3.jpg

The nerves will really be building in the Kent camp now as on 127 Dexter is caught for 27.

7thwicketkn6.jpg

With only 1 added to the score, the ball is once again in the wicketkeepers gloves and Cook goes for just 1.

8thwicketpd6.jpg

Patel and Khan see out the innings with overs to spare. Kent really struggled (as did Somerset) to score runs on this track and would have hoped for a much easier victory. Most notable is the total lack of fours from the Kent team as they were unable to breach the close in fielders on this slow pitch, instead being forced into trying to slog big sixes.

Middlesex v Kent - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Lords
Day 1 - 1st Session

It's a slightly overcast day and a pitch inspection reveals a good hard surface, with this in mind Kent decide to bat first and hopefully get best use of the pitch.

The opening partnership of Walker and Fulton make a flying start as Middlesex set a far too agressive field. They are scoring at around 10 runs an over as the ball races to the boundary.

Middlesex get an early breakthrough though as Walker edges to the wicketkeeper on 33, and its 59/1.

1stwicketmq3.jpg

Key replaces Walker and is caught out by the bounce of the pitch and floored by a short ball from Keegan.

flooredla1.jpg

Key is not put off and continues scoring at the rate Walker left off at. In just 45 mins of play Kent have managed to score 100 runs. No long after Key and Fulton share their 50 partnership.

fiftypartrz8.jpg

It doesnt take very long for the next wicket to fall and with the score on 114 Fulton fails to spot the slower ball from Betts and is out for 32. Fulton is furious with himself for making such a stupid mistake.

2ndwicketxm8.jpg

The next wicket falls just 2 balls later as Martin van Jaarsveld edges behind and is out for a duck.

3rdwicketcl7.jpg

Hall joins Key at the crease a little earlier than he would have expected to and Kent's pace slows as they look to rebuild. The pair bat out the rest of the session and Hall was particularly pleased when the lunch break came as he never looked completely settled.
