Kshitiz's Cricket Sim 09 Discussion/Testing

Looks to be a good sim.
I just went through 4 matches using biggy09's AUS and ENG teams.
7 of the scores were between 140 and 180 which is really good, with England scoring 219 once and collingwood hitting 53 off 15 balls!!!
The only thing I haven't seem is teams getting into their lower order. In all of my matches they have ended 5 or 6 down, including AUS who ending 157 for 5 chasing 219.

I went through a match using biggy09's team files and the final result was:

Australia vs. England

England - 199/6 in 20.0 overs.
Australia - 164/9 in 20.0 overs.

England wins the match by 35 runs

Hey i found a glitch, i made two custom teams NZL and WI. When I sim through it Vettori bowls 8 over straight in the middle phase, any reason for this???

For some reason the only players I get are Ravi Bopara and Shane Watson.

OK other things I have found include i think they always open with the most defensive bowlers surly it should be the other way around.
No variation in bowlers used always same bowlers for same amount of overs.
Vettori thing still happening he is bowling 8 overs each game.
The scores are very random and the aggression may need to be altered, sometimes one team score 200+ in 1st innings and team chasing end up 150- for just a few wickets.

Hope some of these help in terms of what to fix.

Hi,

Thanks for the feed back.

First of all, your Vettori problem must be because you might not be having enough bowlers in the team. I think I mentioned it somewhere on CS09 site, that a team must be having atleast 4 quickies and 2 spinners, abilitied more than 0. When it doesn't find that it continues with the previous bowler. I'll work towards a fix for this today, see what I can do.

Maybe I should just make it like Cricsim, where if it runs out of bowlers it'll make a bowler of 0 ability bowl. :p

The scores should be random but I see where you're coming from for the 200+ point. It is an amateur's mistake on my part, I haven't factored in the pitch conditions. :p I would be willing for advices on what all pitches should be there with what qualities, or else I'll have to go with what CrickSim has, Excellent, Normal and Poor.

It opens with the bowler on the 11'th position, so yeah it shouldn't be like that. Easy fix, will do it. Thanks for pointing out.

The bowler choosing engine is not that much intelligent, it chooses the next best abilitied bowler each time [as generally captains do], so if it sees two bowlers satisfying the conditions, it'll use the best abilitied out of the two.

I think this will be more or less solved in the PCPL because players will have equal averages with minor differences, so things would be a bit more random, and of course then line up factor would kick in.

I can't get you. Are you meaning to say that only Bopara and Watson bowl or only those come up in the team file?

For me, it shows an error: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I am facing the same problem.

You guys need to download and install Microsoft Visual C++ run times. Should be fairly easy to google although I'll add a link upon release and mention in the read me. Thanks.

As I said, once I factor in pitch types this type of thing will be easier to control. More wickets falling on poor pitches, maybe lesser on Excellent with always the element of luck.

1) Display the range for ability and aggression like ( 0-100 ) or ( 0-50 ) when it's prompting to get the user inputs. This will increase the user friendliness.
Good point, I just skipped it because it might clog up the UI too much. I'll find a way to squeeze them in, although yes all are from 0-100.

2) When we enter 0 for non bowler, try to continue the loop to next player. When we enter 0, I don't think we should wait till the bowling aggression, ability and bowling type are recorded.
Another good point, I'll think more about it. The only reason I kept it that way, is when you're creating a team out of habit sometimes you get set with the same pattern of key presses and might enter wrong for the next player when the loop kicks in and portions are skipped.

As far as I can see so far, the only thing I think I saw was that (what I assume was) a caught and bowled happened, the bowler got the catch, but not the bowled bit.

so:

Batsman cBowler b10

If you get me?
Sorry, I didn't quite get that. You mean that was what came up? When a caught and bowled happens it is generally shown as c & b. If you can elaborate a bit more I'll look into it, thanks. :)

Cheers for all the feed back and testing guys, much appreciated. I would like to say one thing though, I've thrown quite a bit in luck's way in the sim, because from what I understand, T20 is much more a game of luck, than ODI's and Tests. If you agree / disagree with the view, let me know. :)

As you say probably best to make it choose a bowler with 0 ability otherwise you're rewarding teams who don't play enough bowlers.

Yeah ok thanks for a reply, in my NZ team i just have 1 spinner vettori but i got but i got several other pace including ryder, styris, oram, franklin, mills bond and o'brien

the AI arn't opening with the 11th player. for NZ they are opening with franklin who had the 4th= bowling rating and is batting 7, while with WI they are opening with sarwan who has rating of 50 and is batting 5.

Very strange behaviour, I'll look into that thanks. :)

Only Bopara and Watson come up in the team files, I downloaded biggy09's.

Yeah, on the scorecard it came up with c (Bowler) b (Batsman score)

Instead of c (Bowler) b (Bowler) (Batsman score)
