Post Line-ups Legends At Battle XII | Round 1 - What happens when you hide the new ball from Sydney Frickin' Barnes..

What effects does those have on players from a particular kind of era?

Asking for Bradman, Grace, etc...

It's not really an exact science, but it depends on their overall style of play. Someone like Bradman can arguably match up to any era given his aggressive style of play, whereas Grace was a bit more inclined to play with a straight bat so he would arguably be most effective in one of the earlier eras, and perhaps a bit Alastair Cook-like in the later ones (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

Let's have some fun with the likes of Jessop and Fender, as well as our already-derided modern day players.

Twenty20 Era Trent Bridge please

Vijay Hazare, Frederick Spofforth, Lindsay Hassett

Bill Ponsford, Trevor Goddard, Bill Woodfull

I seem to have caught the draft bug, so I will be joining with a team on my own. I present to you The Hound Dogs..

A team comprised of some talented players that were overlooked during the drafts, and some controversial players that aren't afraid to play dirty in order to win, led by arguably the dirtiest of them all - Douglas Jardine.

1) A proper wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:/:arwk:) in your XI.
2) A minimum of 6 players marked to bowl.
3) Players ruled out due to injury cannot be selected.
4) The time limit for posting lineups is 48 hours. I will likely go with a random lineup if your lineup isn't posted within that time.
5) Teams must give a minimum of 15 players a game over the course of the tournament (warm-ups don't count). However, all players must be given a go during the 2 rounds of warm-ups.

Venue timelines

:purpo: Olympics era 1(1896-1912): Terrible for batsmen, average scoring rates around 3 to 3.5 runs per over.
:goldo: Olympics era 2 (1920-1936): Truer wickets for batting, average scoring rates around 3.5 to 4.0 runs per over.
:bro: Early-ODI era (1971-1983): Evenly balanced contests between bat and ball, average scoring rates around 4.0 to 4.5 runs per over.
:blueo: Mid-ODI era (1985-1999): Slightly better for batting than the previous era, average scoring rates around 4.5 to 5.0 runs per over.
:slvo: Pre-Twenty20 era (2000-2009): More in favor of batsmen than previous eras, average scoring rates around 5.0 to 5.5 runs per over.
:redo: Twenty20 era (2010-present): The most batting friendly era of the lot, average scoring rates around 5.5 to 6.5 runs per over.

Statistics

To be updated once every 3 rounds after the start of the official tournament.

Standings

TBA

Explanation on pitch types

:bwl::down: Damp/Sticky - Massively in favor of bowlers and an absolute nightmare to bat on, unless you're Victor Trumper.
:left::right: Dusty - Plenty of turn on offer for spinners and a good place to bat for spin-savvy batsmen. Good pace bowlers are still likely to thrive.
:ar::up: Evenly balanced - Provides an evenly balanced contest for all disciplines.
:bat::left: Flat - A batsman-friendly pitch which provides little or no assistance to bowlers. Expect big totals.
:bwl::up: Green - A lot of movement on offer early on, which makes it ideal for bowlers capable of swinging the ball. Batting expected to become easier as the match progresses.
:ar::left: Hard - Ideal conditions for batting. Good deal of bounce on offer for fast bowlers as well. Could go either way
:right::left: Dry/Slow - Ideal for slow and spin bowlers as the name suggests. Sometimes quite difficult to bat on.
:down: Poor - Uneven bounce and a huge amount of turn on offer for spinners. Expect a slow hard grind where most batsmen rarely score at above 2 an over.
