LV County Championship 2008

Mike Watkinson isn't the problem. In fact, considering how highly rated he is by the sky team and the England set up as a coach he definitely isn't the problem. Your problem is because you miss players in certain areas that haven't been fixed for years, and you also have an aging squad. If you take into account one of the more successful sides in the past 5 years; Sussex, you'll realise that in the majority of their Championship winning campaigns only Mushtaq Ahmed, Chris Adams and Richard Montgomerie, were 'old'. Somerset, similarly have class in the right areas, as well as experience and a young side.

Both those place also don't suffer from the ridiculous amount of rain Old Traffords had to contend with the past 2 seasons.

I agree with what you are saying sometimes, but you also have to look at the selections he makes, when there are any injuries, we have no players that are capable of stepping up and replacing the likes of Mal Loye, Stuart Law and Glen Chapple.

We do have a few youngsters coming through, but, they will be no where near the quality of our 'expierenced' players. The only really decent player coming through (in my eyes) is Steven Croft, but he is only really seen playing for us in the Twenty20's and when Injuries strike, but there is just too much pressure on them to perform, and they are just crumbling.

Also, during this second half of the season our batting for some reason has just collapsed big time, and I really don't know why. We now havent scored over 300 in 10 innings, and for a team that is meant to be challenging for the title, its simply Disgracefull!

Not really, Croft is playing in all forms of the game for us now, and he has shown himself to be useful in pressure situations, he's just a little inconsistent at this moment of time.

To be fair on Lancs last week. Law didn't take to the field after the first day with a back problem, he did bat with a runner but he could barely walk in the first innings and in the second innings Kent were bowing with spinners at each end when he came out, he didn't stand a chance not being able to move his feet. Croft, I thought, batted and bowled quite well, Chapple was your best bowler. I'm not sure if Mahmood was injured but I did see him get physio and he only bowled 4 overs in the second innings, so I guess there was some sort of problem. Cork also didn't seem to be moving freely throughout the entire game but as usual he did a decent job with the ball. Mal Loye though looked awful (well what we saw of him;)). At one point one of the backroom staff took to the field (I have no idea who it was). All in all the team looked like the walking wounded although they did all start the match fit. Ok, Kent have a bit of an injury crisis at the moment too, but at least we were lucky enough to be able to field 11 fit players for the four days.

Good to see Matt Wood getting runs for Notts. They also batted him at 5 which mirrors my ICC teams. :D

I never thought I would say this but Lancashire are now fighting against Relegation!

After the Surrey game was washed out without a ball being bowled we are now only 2 points ahead of Yorkshire, which I am really embarrassed about!

All we need is a bad game against Durham and Yorkshire get a win out of there next game and we are really in trouble.

It's pretty tight again this year. Anything can happen, one win can change the course of a teams season. Look at Kent, a few weeks ago there was talk of relegation but we were 1 wicket away from going top at Scarborough.

M Munday 2 0 8 0 4.00
WJ Durston 17 0 40 0 2.35

More great Captaincy today from Langer. I'd rather go back to seeing us struggle but giving players a chance rather than this constant rubbish coming from the Management structure. I've nothing against Durston, but to give him many more overs than your specialist spinner, who although expensive sometimes, does have talent, is a joke. I fear an exodus this winter if Langer stays on.

Typical. No play today. That'll be another draw for us then.
Nah, your lot are equally capable of losing inside 3 days :p

Lol @ Lancs. 79/8 against Kent. 29 of the 79 are Extras as well. Shocking stuff. Decent for Kent though.
Better than we did at Durham the other week. Kent's batting order looks bit light for this match (and the next one) after releasing Matt Walker, then the non-selection of Dexter after he turned down a 3 year contract and looks set to join Middlesex.

I'd bet Geraint Jones had Weetabix for breakfast this morning!

Lancs all out for 107, extras top scoring with 32.

Jonesy currently 91 not out off 84 balls!

Damn it!!!

GO Jones lbw b Newby 91 119 88 16 0 103.40

4 balls later!!!!! Sorry Geraint, I'll get my coat

Patel proving once again how much of a class player he is today.84 from 77 balls at the moment. Notts look well set to win from here hopefully.

Themer added 54 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...

Patel got his century off 90 balls looking good. With him getting in to the ODI team how long till he gets in the Test team? Hes up there with the best in terms of averages. I think he's got an outside chance of getting in the test team by next year if he continues in good form.

134 from 117 balls, not out. Okay, this is against a very poor attack and it is at The Oval. But it is still an excellent knock.

2 wickets a piece for Sami and Lewry. 237-4 at the moment.

Surrey have been relegated btw.
