Playing on a dusty pitch, Murali showed everyone why he's the leading wicket-taker in international cricket's history, by blowing away Sydney's batsmen with a great spell of 5-28. Only a rearguard effort from Kapil Dev could take the Thunder to a respectable total.

What a bowling performance by the Burewala Express! Despite the pitch being far from helpful, Waqar used his most potent weapon, the yorker, to make the dust and cracks on it irrelevant, taking 7-26 to almost single handedly beat Manchester City, who were given a lightning fast start by their skipper Adam Gilchrist. Jacques Kallis watched his teammates fall one after another, as he remained stranded on 46*.
Sydney Thunder won by 5 runs.

p.s i don't know why Waqar performed so well on a dusty pitch. I'm sure his rating wasn't too high. Hopefully the next matches will be more realistic.
