Matthew Hayden quits cricket

And all the bowlers around the Test world just breathed a huge sigh of relief.

HAHAHA Ben is banned just when he was going to post his lovey dovey farewell to his favourite cricket player. Have to laugh, of all the times to go round calling people currys and stuff :D

Anyway great player, couldn't cut it in England but hey who can ;) The world cup 2007 was pretty unbelievable, just seeing 1 player totally dominant so consistently.

Defiently should of given it one more shot, and given himself a proper farewell. Oh well, guess he will just have to say goodbye tonight, in the 20/20 but not showing us what he loves to do, and thats play cricket.

Certainly been one of my favourite cricket players growing up. Just knows how to the play the game, and his batting was incredible. Sad to see him bow out this way though, deserved a better send off with such a sublime career.

this is wierd, never thought that an aussie and that too of Hayden's stature will have to retire like this- underpressure from media and cricket board. I believe that Hayden still wanted to continue.

this used to happen in India but watching this happening to an aussie is still hard to believe.
cricket australia is just like Indian board :D

Anyway, to be honest, I will miss him :crying - hated him for smashing our bowlers all over the place, extremely intimidating.

Players are not tbh. Take Dravid for example, he is still ready to play despite of bieng playing poor. A massive difference between Indian players and others.

If Hayden believes he can go through and still serve the country well, he might have prolonged more too. Let the players decide! The control is with the selectors. If he is not playing well, drop him. But dont blame the player for not retiring. Blame the selectors only

Good riddance from Australia's p.o.v

Sad end to a wonderful career. Hayden will be missed.... and to a great extent by us Indian fans, who are used to see him literally toy around with our bowling. Great batsman. One of the modern greats of the game.:hpraise

props to him on his career and what he has accomplished. good to see him retire on his own terms even if he didn't go out on top.
