Old horse Ganguly still running. But yeah youth is way forward.

India vs. England 2nd Test
A match of swinging fortunes! (scorecard)

Rohit Sharma made a solid 136 in India's 1st inning after Kumble won the toss and elected to bat first. Gambhir and Pathan were the other major contributors, scoring 79 and 69* respectively. MS Dhoni entertained the crowd making 46 runs off just 42 balls. Off the English bowlers, Flintoff picked up 5 wickets which included Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman.

In England's 1st inning Vaughan and Trescothick compiled 133 and 134 runs respectively strengthening England's hopes of a great fightback. The situation looked threatening for India when England was 225 for 2. But the wicket of Trescothick triggered a collapse as England lost their last wicket on 352 giving India a lead of 100+.

At this point India looked to be in the driving seat.

Andrew Flintoff and Hoggard wrecked India's formidable batting order as India got all out on 193. Flintoff took 4 wickets while Hoggard picked up 3. Only Ganguly made a noteworthy 42. The 1st inning centurion Rohit Sharma, was out for a duck. India were at one point 127 for 7 but the lower order proved to be stubborn.

Now the match was anyone's for the taking.

England got off to a smashing start as their openers notched up a stand of 81 which was eventually broken by Tendulkar. Irfan Pathan blew over the middle order picking the wickets of Bell, Vaughan and Pietersen in a quick succession. Ganguly too chipped in with the important wicket of Trescothick and also the wicket of Foster. Flintoff however stood tall smacking all the bowlers and was the last man out. He scored 93 runs. Again the lower order failed as nobody provided any support to Flintoff.

India will be concerned with the form of Sehwag and Tendulkar though they lead the series 0-2. England on the other hand will be pleased with Trescothick's and Flintoff's form though they can only hope to draw the series.

Man of the Match: Andrew Flintoff.

What a tight finish. Flintoff had very good match and deserved MOM award.

Nooo England. How could you lose again. Sharma and Pathan batted really well in the First Innings and that was what gave India the edge in the end.

Cracking works mate, keep it up :thumbs

Nice win for India, India is doing good in story form 2-0 here and Freddiw is 2-1 againts Australia...

Gautam Gambhir made a polished 274 as India smashed 605/2 in their 1st inning! Providing support to Gambhir, Rohit Sharma scored a sparkling 240*. Gambhir and Rohit shared a record 496 run partnership for the second wicket before Tendulkar scored a quick 17 not-out. Earlier Dravid made 49 runs. The English bowlers looked hopeless as Gambhir and Rohit gave no chances.

England managed only 365 runs in their 1st inning. Cook scored a century while Vaughan and Flintoff scored half centuries. India enforced a follow on. Sreesanth took four wickets while Pathan took 3.

In England's second inning, they were much worse and scored just 176 runs. Only Pietersen showed resistance scoring 71 runs. Agaiin Sreesanth was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets. Kumble supporting him bagged 3 wickets.

That was really bad batting by England! They need to work hard on their batting! Also they bowled really bad in the first inning. 605/2:eek:

Nice presentation!

Good partnership between Gambhir and Sharma. India looking strong day by day.

Shockingly BCCI wanted a meeting with the coach and called him to India for a meeting despite it collided with the 4th test! Still India won convincingly by 171 runs. Interestingly India played a kind of reversed order i.e. bowlers first in their 2nd inning.

With the coach being absent, there is no match report.

Finally, the Indian coach had to answer some critics. After winning the toss Dhoni elected to bat. Soon the decision backfired as Tendulkar got a golden duck trying to pull a ball from Flintoff. His other partner was Preveen Kumar who was supposed to be a pinch hitter had to play a responsible inning as wickets fell at the other end. He scored a very neat 64 off 78 balls. Most of the others got starts but threw their wickets trying to play too many strokes. Especially Dhoni and Uthappa looked in good nick. India could only get 225 runs batting first.

After Praveen Kumar got Strauss' wicket cheaply, he got hammered for 19 runs in the same over. Vaughan was severe on the Indian bowlers and scored 48 off just 47 balls. Trescothick held the inning together while scoring 60 runs. Collingwood and Pietersen finished off the match in style as England won by 6 wickets. Earlier Collingwood also picked up 3 wickets.

Man of the Match: Paul Collingwood
