it was a dissapointing start for kent as they lost their first wicket in the second over. d fulton played a forward defensive shot but it hit glove and popped up. it didnt get much better as r key went for 12 doing the same thing in the seventh over.an over later m sinclair was run out for 7.

from there the runs dried up and it wasnt long before van jaarsveld bowled for 11 in the 11th over. the was some resistance from watson and jones before that partnership was broken in the 18th over when jones was caught in the deep for just 10 runs.

a halll didnt last 4 balls before he went in the same fashion for just four runs.
by that time kent were 6/88. at lunch they managed to not lose anymore wickets to finish 6/111
watson 38*
Walker 21*

kent have done surprisingly well to stay in this match after a much better second session. a well earned 50 partnership between walker and watson was showing to be the base of kent's innings until walker went for a slog down the ground, missed timed it and went to mid on. he went trudging back to the pavilion after making 38. shortly after though watson went on to his first half century for the club as they were looking for someone to get a decent score.

a fifty partnership between watson and denly in ten overs was soon broken when denly departed popping one up to bat pad to be dismissed for 22 in the 50th. it looked quite grim for kent as henderson made his way to the middle. there was a lot of pressure on him as kent slumped to 8/193.

the last 9 or so overs of the session proved tough but excitingas watson belted his way to his 1st century for kent and hopefully for them not his last. his century came off 140 balls in the 57th over.

so at tea kent are 8/242
watson 108
henderson 19

Kents disappointing run in this match continued as they lost their final two wickets for 36 runs in less than 9 overs. watson only added 13 to his score from the tea break before he was clean bowled. middle stump was uprooted from the ground. saggers came out and belted a six to get off the mark but it was too little to late as henderson went the next over caught for 34. kent finished on 278 after 68.3 overs.

Middlesex continued their dominating run in this match with an outstanding first session on day 2 to be in a very commanding position at lunch. it wasnt all smooth sailing, however, the middlesex batsmen copped a fair amount of bouncers aimed at their head. one in which managed to dismiss E smith for a dismal 22. tendulkar and a flower managed to see all of them through even when one crash into flowers helmet. he was down for a little while but recovered to play on.

Both Batsmen scoring half centuries late in the session to see them through. Tendulkar 55 off 85 and flower 54 off 81, which includes 19 fours between them, saw them through the rest of the session to have them 2/151 at lunch just 127 behind. its not over yet as kent have been constantly looking for wickets and have almost had them on a few occasions. so this match is still far from over

at lunch middlesex 2/151 off 44 overs
tendulkar 55
flower 54
