Most Predictable World Cup Ever?

Will this be the most boring world cup ever?

With 2 superpowers already out of the tournament and severe beatings awaiting the minnows in the super 8 this world cup has the most predictable semi final line up.

The ICC thought that this format will mean all 8 top test nations will go through and contest a brilliant world cup and this plan was very clever,

how the icc have been left with egg on their faces by ireland and bangladesh,

not to mention the tv companies and organisers missing out on indian revenue and pakistan vs india match which would have made more money than the whole tourney alltogether

I don't see how they were left with egg on their faces since the underdogs beat the superpowers. Just because Pakistan went out, it doesn't mean we will be bored. It may be boring for you but I, for one, am enthralled by the unpredictability of the tournament so far. How is one of the superpowers missing out on the Super 8s predictable?

Have you forgotten the upcoming match - Australia v South Africa? Is India v Pakistan the only reason people watch cricket? I don't think so.

Look mate, it's not our fault Pakistan got knocked out by Ireland.

Onto my next point, how the hell can this be the most predictable world cup ever?!?!?!!? IMO it was a dead cert the top 8 would go through and the rest would get hammered. Add to that every other example in this thread.

Boring and Predictable.... Hmmmm

Day 1 - West Indies beat Pakistan in the opener, a brilliant way to open the tournament

Day 2 - Ok I'll give you this one, Scotland hammered by Australia

Day 3 - Ireland tie with Zimbabwe

Day 4 - South Africa go nuts

Day 5 - The day of the Minnows, Ireland beat Pakistan and Bangla beat India

Day 6 - Canada give a pretty good showing against England, OK they never really looked like winning.

Day 7 - As I write this Zimbabwe are giving the West Indies a pretty good match.

I've been glued to my radio every evening (and while I'm in my car in the afternoon) listening to Radio 5 Live Sports extra (or Radio 4 Long wave).

and don't forget Englands sudden rise in form from nowhere to bring home the trophy, wait i'm predicting that so i guess it is quite predictable :p

well this has been a really exciting WC so far...and i think any of the teams who go into the super 8 can go on to win it...Aussies haven't been doing great recently although they have turned it up a notch in the WC but they haven't faced any real threat yet...india losing to bangla but putting a great performance against bermuda...and that catch by levrock against india....ahhhh....what a classic...lol...

Well this is the first world cup i've ever watched since becoming a cricket fan and i'm really enjoying it. All the action and upsets have been great to watch and I can the excitement carrying on into the super 8's

same here

think you guys didnt read my correction

it will get boring after the super 8 stage cos the semi finalists are more or less between 6 teams with bangla and ireland getting hammered

and india is more or less out

they struggled to beat a sri lanka team without murali and vaas so they wont beat them with those 2 in it now will they,
and i expect bangla to score 300 vs bermuda easily

India vs Pakistan >> Australia vs South Africa

India vs Pakistan +Australia vs SA= India vs Pakistan(1 + (Australia vs SA)/(India vs Pakistan))

=India vs Pakistan(1) = India vs Pakistan

Hehehe, kinda lame I know.

Lmao!! :laugh :laugh :laugh

But although i do enjoy watching ind v Pak matches more than Au v Eng, (no duh, i'm an Indian:p) I do belive that they're both the "best" in their own ways. :p

Struggled to beat? We thrashed them 6-1 with Murali and Vaas. Now, dont tell me that was long ago. We thrashed them, and thats truth.

Bangladesh winning one match against India makes you speak as if they are a superpower nation??? Watch out. Bangladesh vs Bermuda is going to be more of an evenly contested match. Bangladesh cant beat Bermuda like how SL or India did to them.

So far, the world cup has been so exciting. Even if india doesnt go through to the super 8, i would maintain that it has been exciting. obviously, the loss of woolmer was unbearable but otherwise, a very thrilling world cup so far.

hope the show continues.

Indian and Pakistani fans enjoy our classic "India vs Pakistan" more whereas Aus and SA fans enjoy their battle more. Its always been a bias.

The last Aus-SA world cup match that I saw was the 1999 one. That was a classic. Aus-SA will be a major battle. But I sincerely pray India get through so that we can see another classic battle of "India vs Australia". Oh gosh! Thats one battle I am dying to see!

I'm sorry, when was the last time an Aus-Ind ODI was not one-sided? This is not Test matches we are talking about.

Look up Statsguru, India has a pathetic record against Australia in ODIs. Restricting only to the 2000s, played 26, Aus win 19, India win 5, 2 no results.

Have you forgotten the last World Cup final already? Give me an Aus-SA game any day over Aus-Ind. Or even an Aus-NZ one would be better. At least there would be a fight.

Nothing personal against India, but you can't beat Australia.

Come to think of it, just remind me of a "Classic" Aus-Ind ODI... my mind's a blank.
