Brendon McCullum congratulates Ishant Sharma after picking up the wicket of Sehwag

There was no repeat of Tilkaratne Dilshan's fireworks of the last match as he was sent back for just 2 runs in Delhi Daredevils' 71-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders at Feroz Shah Kotla. Cheteshwar Pujara's 47 helped Kolkata Knight Riders to 155 for 5, but the hosts lost their wickets at regular intervals with Ishant Sharma taking 6 for 15, which included the five important wickets of Sehwag, Gambhir, Warner, Dilshan, and de Villiers.

Malinga and Pollard shine in huge win

Malinga celebrates his second wicket with Rayudu

A devastating spell from Lasith Malinga helped Mumbai Indians completely dismantle Kings XI Punjab at the Brabourne Stadium and put them in contention of a semi-finals berth. Malinga delivered his quickest spell of the summer to remove key Kings XI Punjab batsmen Ravi Boapra, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Brett Lee, and left Kings XI Punjab reeling at 7 for 45 in pursuit of a mammoth 174.

Malinga's Man-of-the-Match burst was supported by Zaheer Khan, who claimed two wickets in his first over, to virtually kill off any chance Kings XI Punjab had. The Kings XI Punjab capitulated with four overs to go. Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh were the only shining light with 24 each, but Pathan was Harbhajan Singh's only victim and Dwayne Bravo cleared the tail by picking the wickets of Chawla and Sreesanth which confirmed Mumbai Indians' win.

Pollard provided some fireworks with the bat, striking a powerful half-century to help the hosts post an imposing total. He clubbed 68 from just 48 balls, including six enormous sixes. The Mumbai Indians fail to make use of the great batting strip after winning the toss as they lost 4 quick wickets with just 34 runs on the board. But a 100-run partnership between the West Indies duo of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, and also a 8-ball 22-run cameo from Abhishek Nayar help them reach 174 in their 20 overs.

To add insult to the injury dealt by Pollard's pyrotechnics, Kings XI Punjab dropped four catches and could not bowl their overs in the time required, which may result in them incurring the wrath of the match referee. The punishment may result in a huge fine and a warning for skipper Kumar Sangakkara. After today's defeat Kings XI Punjab's next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore becomes very important for both the teams.

Royal Challengers celebrate after winning the game

A good last over from seamer Abhimanyu Mithun helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to an seven-run win over Chennai Super Kings in front of a full pack stadium in Chennai. With fifteen needed and seven wickets remaining, Mithun bowled MS Dhoni with the firth ball and conceded eight runs only of the last five balls - he finished with 1 for 43. Chennai Super Kings did well to take the game to the last over, as they were 45 for 2 chasing 184. Some destructive hitting from Michael Hussey along with Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni put them back in the game before Mithun's last over. Royal Challengers' innings was built on 80 from Kevin Pietersen which included six sixes and a whirlwind 54 from Robin Uthappa.

Well done Bravo and Pollard for stabalizing the ship after the top order was destroyed. Malinga then capitalized on a miserable KXIP.

Well batted Pieterson, and Uthappa also played an important knock. Inspiring chase by Hussey, but no one other than him converted their starts

Dimitri Mascarenhas celebrates his wicket

Shaun Tait led a stand-out fast-bowling performance as the Rajasthan Royals notched up the most convincing win of the tournament, and their third in a row, handing the Delhi Daredevils an eight-wicket drubbing at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. None of Delhi's batsmen came to terms with the seamer-friendly pitch, crumbling to an embarrassing 82 all out - the lowest score of the tournament batting first - before Graeme Smith finished the game with a 30-ball 37, as Rajasthan sailed home with 53 deliveries to spare significantly boosting their hopes of a semi-final berth.

Deccan Chargers edge spirited Knight Riders

Adam Gilchrist smashes a quick fire century

A high-scoring thriller which produced 412 runs finally went the way of Deccan Chargers, as they edged Kolkata Knight Riders to record their second win of the IPL. After Adam Gilchrist had powered Deccan Chargers to 213 with a brilliant 107 of 58 balls, Kolkata Knight Riders put up a spirited run-chase, thanks largely to Chris Gayle's 64-ball 102. In the end, though, his effort wasn't enough, which means Kolkata still have some work to do to make it to the last four.
