Matthew Hayden on his route to an unbeaten 97

Matthew Hayden blasted an unbeaten 97 to help the Chennai Super Kings smash defending champions Deccan Chargers by eight wickets in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League season three. The left-hander belted six sixes at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in his whirlwind 63-ball knock that saw him threaten to score a second century of the season. Chris Gayle remained just three runs short of a three digit score, as MS Dhoni hit the winning runs and raised his half century. Scott Styris and RP Singh picked the two wickets, but they were a mere consolation for the season two champions.

Deccan never really got the kick in the innings and it was only due to the late innings onslaught by Rao and Styris did they get a competitive total.
The Deccan bowling doesnt look to be well set in the Sim, as Edwards and Harmeet singh didnt get to bowl and that may have been the reason as both Sharma and Rao got smashed arounf the park. Solid knock from Hayden, disappointed that he missed the century but then again, he can get it any other knock, can he ;)

Slick Delhi Daredevils crush poor Rajasthan Royals

Gautam Gambhir hits the ball towards fine leg

Delhi Daredevils put in a display worthy of their tag as pre-tournament favourites as they cruised to a seven-wicket victory against season one champions Rajasthan Royals at Sardar Patel Stadium after skittling the hosts for 125. Ashish Nehra and Wayne Parnell set the tone with wickets in their opening spells and were backed up by impressive spin and fine catching, particularly Tillakaratne Dilshan's effort to remove Adam Voges, and although the run chase didn't set pulses racing the result was never in doubt after Guatam Gambhir raised his second half century of the season.

Poor stuff from the Royals. lack of any sort of solid partnership and wickets kept on falling, good work by the Delhi bowlers. Gambhir then makes sure that Rajasthan dont follow that suite.

Tendulkar cleared of major damage

Sachin Tendulkar injured his hand in the first

Sachin Tendulkar will continue to take part in the Indian Premier League after X-rays and a CT scan confirmed that he had not fractured his right hand.

Tendulkar was struck by a Kamran Khan bouncer from the first ball of Mumbai Indians' innings in the second match of the season against Rajasthan Royals, but continued to bat after taking painkillers. He was rushed to hospital after he was dismissed for 86.

Nitin Patel, the team physiotherapist, said Tendulkar's progress would be monitored. "In spite of the fact that the results reveal no fracture, there is bound to be severe bruising of the soft tissue," Patel told Cricket India. "We will have to be guided by his physical condition in treating the injury but hopefully he will be able to pick up a bat in two days' time."

Chandan Madan is also in doubt for Mumbai Indians' next match after suffering a hamstring injury. Madan, who scored 94 off 56 balls to take Mumbai Indians to an eight-wicket victory in their first match, was aided by a runner for the majority of his innings.

"Chandan has a first-degree plus strain of the hamstring [of the right leg]," Patel said. "At this stage, he can only be regarded as a 50-50 chance for next match [against Delhi Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla]."
