Not sure you know, I know in Islam we can't have sex befor marrige (some of us have gone past that rule lol) but I can't see anything wrong with having a girlfriend.

If you feel awkward having a girlfriend then don't keep one...
 
I don't know, I doubt it though (meaning I doubt were allowed) unless you mean girlfriend as in workmate or whatever.

But if your not following everything else the Qur'an says then this can't do much harm, just do what you feel your young lol....

Also it's natural for young men to feel like that

My view is that you should have girlfriends and perhaps have casual sex. You must understand that many religious teachings were due to the time in which they were written.

For example, 'Kosher' meat is simply the meat that was adjudged to be clean enough to eat without risk of death from food poisoning. Pigs for example, spend their time rolling in their own filth and so, when the laws were written, it was adjudged that it is not safe to eat that animal. Animal worship comes into play too but the practical factor was the main reason.

Sex before marriage is a similar one because contraception was not around in the times of the conception (pardon my pun) of Islam and so, the risk of infecting a future wife with an STD is great and the reason why muslim women are encouraged to be virgins when they are married. Moreover, the risk of pregnancy outside marriage which to this day is a sticky issue is there too.

Following relgious beliefs is all well and good but you must try and infer which views to modernise since they were a product of the time and which of the relgious laws are timeless.

All in all, it is your choice but I encourage you to have a girlfriend if you wish.
 
I have a devout Muslim friend who is going out with a Christian girl, so I assume they are allowed girlfriends. Of course he could be breaking the rules

Having a non Muslim girlfriend is certainly breaking the rules for Muslims, but as I said earlier, it is all about modernising. The reason such a belief is there is that the two religions have been at war throughout history, e.g. Crusades, Iraq War, and so there is a historical mistrust there.

Anyways you can have a girlfriend, but not if your a Muslim. Not that they don't have them. But I’m only talking about the Muslim who practices his religion in everyday life. Anyways our culture does not allow that. Sex before marriage is forbidden, for good. A person can be A good Muslim and live his modernised life, but i'd just live away from Girlfriends, Alcohol, drugs. Because if it wasn’t Islam those would we my favourites. Not that I'm forced by my religion, I have a free life. Not that I don't have good Friends (female) at my school, and i talk to them..

Well not even Muslim Girlfriend is allowed so.. Muslim Man can however, marry Girls who are from religion of the book, (eg, Jews, Christians.. sometimes Hindus, Budhist included).

You can have friends. If they happen to be girls, so be it. I think it would be fine? Lot of Muslims in my class socialise with girls.
Unless you mean it in another way, it which case I think Usy is right...

Me either, whats wrong in having a girlfriend? And the islam is way to strenght...
