NBA 2k11 "best sports game of this generation"

I made an athletic player and he had 50 points as 3 point skill. I hardly shot 3 point but felt I needed this because the team was failing in last 4 minutes with idiotic shooting as I am a SG (6'5'') so if I hog ball my points get deducted even though I am best assist man in team. :mad

Now I want to improve dunk to 85 and speed and quickness to 90 each. Then will start look to develop defensive game.

What I have noticed is that my teammates are focussed only on big match up games and take light fixtures lightly. Kobe does not even comes to play in 4th quarter even if we are down by 5-10 points.

I got this game about Late October time and it is freakin class. I decided go straight into my player after watchin a few vids on Youtube.

I decided to be an Athletic PG (for speed) and it works. My draft combine wasn't good and i got drafted to the Detroit Pistons in the second round. I knew i was in for a hard time as they aren't any good. Then I got through the summer circuit without getting cut. I was playing really good for Detroit averaging 30 points and 5 assists a game. But we was always got beat.

After 9 games i had enough and decided to put a trade in. I asked for Miami Heat,New York Knicks (they wanted me) and Lakers. The atlanta hawks ended up getting me and then they put me straight in PG and Jamal Crawford at SG and Joe Johnson SF. I have to say what an amazing team they are. I still average 30 points and 5 assists and i have Joe Johnson and co. to back me up. I got my first double double with 52 points and 11 assists.

Is averaging 30 points realistic? I thought that on average the best players got around 20.

The best scorers in the league average 30+ usually. I think all the scoring leaders in the past 10 years have been 30+ bar one. But these guys are totally cheesing it. :p I did too in 2K10, but I'm hoping to restrain myself and play realistic when I get 2K11.

I too was drafted by Detroit only to be traded to Lakers.

Now we are in playoffs with 49-33 record finishing as third seed in West. Its very good considering Lakers were 39-32 11 games back. Won last 10 games of 11.

Against Utah jazz came back from 17 points in last 5 minutes of the game to win by 3 points.

Had two games against Trailblazers and Thunder with game winning shot being hit in last 3 seconds of the game after it was all even till then. In one game I hit the winning shot from inbound pass and in Trailblazer game I was at SF and gave inbound pass to Kobe for winning hoop.

Also won Rookie of The Year award and got selected in All Rookie team. Was unfortunate to miss on All Star team and 6th man award even though I had 25.3 PPG, 6.5 APG and 5.4 RPG. Maybe it was due to my poor defense.

Now overall rating at 63 and finally the team is playing with full chemistry after winning last 10 games in 11. Blake is finally passing the ball and taking few bad shots.

You have to cheese if you want to win games. Letting the rest of the team trying to score points is a futile exercise since they seem to be unable to make even the most open of jumpers.

sohum added 2 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

In the last 5 seasons, only the leading scorer has averaged 30+ PPG. All other players have been below 30.

In the 2005-6 season, Kobe averaged 35, Iverson 33 and LeBron 31. That was the only season in recent history that more than one player averaged 30+ over the course of the season.

In the current season, KD is leading with 28.7 PPG.

Fair enough. I have the same sort of problem on FIFA 11 be a pro. I try and play realistically but I really need to get the ball every few passes to actually have an attack because my team mates are completely crap.

Finally done with my ridiculous 2nd season in 2k10. Now I can start on 2K11.

Ended my season with the Nuggets with 72 wins, won MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year, and lead the league in points, rebounds, and blocks. In the playoffs, beat the Rockets in 5, then swept the Lakers, Thunder, and Heat to win it all. Talk about domination. Ended up setting several team records and even broke Jordan's record for most points. Was mighty bored at the end.

I have beaten Portland 4-1 while all other teams are tied up in 3-2 battle. I would have won 4-0 but decided I needed extra Key game points ;)

Geez what difficulty were you playing at? Although IIRC My Player 2K10 didn't allow you to select difficulty. You can do that in 2K11.

I never finished a season of MP in 2K10. Probably shouldn't have cheated at the beginning and then maybe I could have lasted a whole season. Anyways, 2K11 I'm still stuck at around 50 games done in the season. Haven't had the chance to play any more. I'm considering cutting down from 12-minute quarters to 10-minute quarters, though.

Yeah whatever the default setting is, pro I think. I think there are two factors that worked out well in my favor. One, I've played every 2k game since 2007 and I always play a good inside game. Second, I'm naturally a PF type player so I just play my usual game, which meant I always ended up with a bunch of rebounds and hustle points, then I simply built on that.

:mad Saved my game in third quater of Lakers vs Dallas playoff match and now the game will not load. It crashes back to desktop. No patch from 2k sports as well and now I am playing the My Player all over again.

This time I am SF and drafter by Wizards. Will ask for trade when get my shooting skills at 80 points as having two rookies fighting for top rookie spot is not good and that too in this struggling team.

Did you save after a timeout? If you go through Ronnie2k's twitter history he has a link to a page on their forums describing when the game crashes. I think a patch for PS3 to solve miscellaneous problems is being released soon.
