NBA 2k11 "best sports game of this generation"

Got the game today, simply amazing.

I've played a couple of games against my younger brother this afternoon, and i love the way it makes it feel like a proper match on tele, the HP Half-Time report, Gatorade POTM, Sprite Dunk-Cam etc. Really realistic.

Game-play is top class too, really flows from end-to-end (hoop-to-hoop, i don't know quite what the right saying is).

I haven't gone any further into the game, but i'll give it more of a go tomorrow.

Played game 2 and 3 win my Laker career yesterday. In game 2 I was playing like Steve Nash. Had 22 assists and had no trouble bumping Bulls.

The next game was against struggling Nets side but we were always chasing in the game as no one was firing really except me in the offence. So I took charge of scoring first time in Lakers career along with usual assists.

Especially loved the last 5 minutes of the game as we came back and finished with 5 points lead. Had a monster game for myself with 36 points, 18 assists and 11 rebounds. My first tipple double.

Now I am updating my skill points to be a PG like Rondo or Nash. Gunning for Rookie of Month award.

I've started an "Association mode" with Boston Celtics, and did a draft at the beginning of it. Pretty interesting teams, i got Kobe, but only because i put Boston at the top of the draft order. Anyway, played my first game (3 min quarters), and i was leading the 76ers by 8 points at half-time. I thought i was doing well, until they came out for the 3rd. In the 3rd quarter, the score was 15-3 to them, some guy called Bargnani scored about 10 of them. The damage was done, and i couldn't get it back.

Why would you do a draft? That makes it kind of unrealistic... although you are using 3 minute quarters which is also unrealistic.

Just got named Western Conference player of the week. :)

The Jazz did have their 5-game win streak broken against the Mavericks. Ended up losing by about 5 points. We are now 14-11.

Do you play full games Sohum, and on what difficulty?

My Player? I play Pro/Default 12 minute quarters. Should probably adjust difficult at some point but I hear that in anything other than Pro/Default your team's shooting is really bad.

I will up difficulty only if I have control over other players. That Derek Fisher is total idiot in closing minutes. Does not give me the ball and takes non sense three pointers. Have lost me two games with 1 point margin.

So do you finish up with realistic scores?

I really need this game, especially now since NBA 2k10 wont even start on my PC.

Yes the scores in 12 minute quarter are realistic. Between 80-110. Its not free for all like NBA Live games where 160 was par.

For me, I don't want to sit there for just under an hour playing one game. I know the scores aren't realistic, but it's the same for everyone.

Also, the draft was quite fun, it didn't take too long, and it was like the one we had in the Fantasy league. You are given the option if you want one or not, i chose to have one.

Yup scores are realistic with 12-minute quarters. I think the highest my team has scored is about 115, which is still short of the 132-128 barnburner that occurred between Houston and GSW the other night!

Btw, finally cracked the starting line-up for the Jazz. I'm starting at PG and Deron Williams is at SG. Luke Ridnour has been relegated out of the starting line-up (and we may even have traded him since we've ended up getting Roger Mason Jr. and someone else).

sohum added 1 Minutes and 54 Seconds later...

To each his own, I suppose. One other thing you could do is up the minutes and up the game speed. The default game speed is 50. If you up it 100 and set up 10 minute quarters, the game should take about the same amount of time to finish; maybe a little longer.

Again, it's probably a personal issue. I just don't think I could play a game where Kobe plays for the Celtics and other franchise players are on other teams. It just wouldn't feel real to me.

I play on 8 minute quarters on All-Star. Team's shooting isn't the best but it means I have to work harder all around. still win some games but not often enough.
