NBA 2k11 "best sports game of this generation"

My Player isnt fun to me at all, its pretty boring imo.

I just play Association.. Am I the only one?

I play both but I'm playing my player a lot more now.

I made my association team sick. I took on the Mavs and decided to get rid of some of the older guys even if it meant cutting my favourite player Jason Kidd. I got some awesome deals that would never happen in real life.

Starting 5
PG. Monta Ellis
SG. Eric Gordon (He was the biggest surprise, Clippers ripped themselves off hard)
SF. Shawn Marion/Trevor Ariza
PF. Dirk Nowitzki
C. Carlos Boozer

6. Kevin Love

My trades (iirc)
Out: Caron Butler In: Monta Ellis
Out Haywood and Chandler In: Boozer and Brewer
Out: Brewer In: Trevor Ariza
Out Jason Terry, 2011 1st round pick In Eric Gordon
Out: Jason Kidd In: Kevin Love

It was probably nothing like that but those are the player I got and the players I let go.

Is it just me or is it hard getting good assist numbers. At best I get 5 in a game but my average is only 1.6 APG. Some games I get like 3 or 4 in the 1st quarter and thats all. My Team mates just dont move into good space often enough for the set up.......or maybe I just hog the ball too often :rolleyes

I get my assist mainly as SF by dragging double team and finding guy open near ring for jump shot or layup/dunk.

As SG I used to just make plays for my teammates when I was moved to PG by passing ball to C and PF in low post and sharp shooters for 3 ball. Of course I had Kobe in that team so he made lot of jump shots.

Would any of you recommend this game to a casual NBA fan? I'm not sure whether I want to get this or Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

I tend to think if you really need to immerse yourself in basketball fully, and love the sport, that NBA 2k11 isn't really for a casual fan?
If you are a casual fan, you should be able to play with the playstyle/difficulty set to Casual/Rookie and the game will be pretty easy to pick up. That will have a lot higher shooting percentages, more dunks, steals, etc.

Definitely takes a while to build up assist numbers. As I've said elsewhere, it is pretty impossible to get high assist numbers without having a lot turnovers. I'm currently averaging 6.9 assists with 3.9 TOs. I'm getting more consistent about assists, though, as a lot of my last few games have been double-doubles.

As a PG it is a bit easier to get assists. You can also call plays where you make the pass to the guy shooting the ball, if you have been given the floor general responsibility by the coach.

Yeah, I think you are. I've started an Association mode but haven't played a single game with it yet. It's pretty much all about My Player for me since it's a lot more similar to pick-up basketball where you are just playing as yourself. In fact, ridiculous or not, after playing a couple of games in My Player mode, I've actually seen my game improve in real life. :D

Created my player, finally. 6'9" athletic PF 240lbs. Averaged a double-double through the draft combine and got drafted by the Bulls (17th overall). Averaged a double-double in the summer circuit as well (almost 20 RPG) and have made it to the NBA successfully.

Really loving the gameplay so far. It is so much tougher to score in the paint, you really have to be creative where in 2K10 you could just collect the ball and shoot and no one would be quick enough to stop you. Rebounding is ridiculous though. I haven't played in the NBA yet, but I found it very easy in the summer circuit. Much much more realistic though than it ever has been.

I really don't see what's so different about passing though. I obviously don't see as much of a difference since I'm not a playmaker, but its been pretty much the same for me.

kicking arse on my player atm found a way to really click as a team with 4 wins on the trot. Player of the game each time and my last two games have been two of my finest. Managed my first double double with 36 points 12 rebounds and 6 assists followed by a 60 point game with 6 rebounds 5 assists and 3 blocks. If we keep it going might scrape into the playoffs ;)

What position are you? How do you score most of your points, my highest so far in the NBA is a only 29 point game.

I'm a Shooting Guard and alot of points come from dunks after beating the defender. I'd say 50% dunks and an even spread of jumpers and Lay-ups. I play a more play maker role passing and moving alot where as I used to be a big ball hog.

The biggest problem for me is how slow my 6'10 PF is. Even if the defender bites on the pump fake, half the time I still wont be able to get around him. I really shouldn't have chosen his style as face-up. Agility and speed are about 25 each.

25 :lol

Wizards 16 game winning streak comes to end at hands of Bucks and that too due to insane 3 point shooting by Jhon Salmons. And how is this for trade Steve Nash for Kirk Hinrich and Yi Jilian (something like this). Now I have Nash so no complaints about not getting ball when I am open.

Have beaten Lebron in player of week and Month since Christmas. What I found odd is that even though Wizards were in 16 game winning streak, they fired at least 5 coaches. Now we have Gregg Popovich as coach. I hate this guy.

You should do course dribbling drill to increase your speed or quickness. Speed is more expensive so increase it through drills and spend points on quickness.

Also there are two Jordans with +5 speed and quickness.

Thanks for the tips. Do you know what's more important and has more effect, speed or quickness?

Speed comes in to play when you press Speed button. I have increased my quickness to 85 and my player is quick on his feet. My speed is at 75 only. Also I have seen that having good stamina helps in getting good Dunks in closing minutes of quarter or game.

Made it ti All Stars team in rookie season. :D

In Rookies All Star game made 62 points, 16 rebounds, 2 Assist and 2 Blocks along with 10 monster dunks.

In All Star Game played at all positions except PG and made 28 points, 8 rebounds, 2 Assist and 1 Block.

Have finally managed to get 3PT rating at 90 points (86 + 4 MY Jordan). But still I do not get many 3 pointers in game as compared to my earlier SG player.
