I am a big fan of WWE but since it's not available on PC. I have decided to buy a console. I can't afford PS3 and 360 at the moment but I have somehow managed to buy a Playstation 2 since THQ still release their WWE games on PS2.

I went to a shop near my house. I asked them for PS2 and they told me about two types. One with Hard Disk (which was cheaper than original Rs 5,990) and one which costs Rs 5,990 but it doesn't have a hard disk.

I don't have much idea about Playstation 2 hence I need help to choose the right one because I have heard in the past that there are PS2s with cracked BIOS.

Please someone help me to decided the right PS2.

Buying PS2 only for WWE games is not a right option imo considering WWE sucks very bad on PS2 and there isn't any decent game available for PS2. You can probably upgrade your PC to gaming PC with that price. WWE Online is coming soon on PC so it's better to upgrade your PC (even though I doubt it will have high end graphics that will require you to upgrade).

Why 2 threads btw?

If your buying a playstation, may as well get a PS3. Obviously your a huge PC fan, but I think we'll all end up with a console sooner or later as the PS2 games, just suck now and gaming companies don't give a rat's ass about it either.

The only PS2 that has a hard disk is one with the PS2 Linux kit, which allowed you to run what was basically Red Hat 6, which is in simple terms utterly pointless. The HD doesn't allow you to do anything in game or add any features, nor is it likely that whatever you're being offered is actually that, rather a sign you should avoid this seller completely.

Just buy a better PC and run PCSX2.

Just kidding PS2 games looks so crap now comparing to gaming pc or console. I doubt that anyone play PS2 games now even on their PC.
PS2 hasn't been abandoned yet. Around 100,000 PS2 units are still being sold per month.

If you just want to play the WWE games on the PS2, try pcsx2. They work fine with it and you don't need a powerful graphics card to run it. You do need a good CPU though.

.

Wow that is just sad, why buy such out dated technology. Whats next? a VCR and a some rabbit ears to go with the ps2 :laugh

PS2 is not worth going for. You will get a brand new PS3 slim with 120 GB hard disk at 20K. I know 20K would seem an expensive bit but the PS3 has its usefulness as media player as well. It makes watching movies on your HD TV a dream and whats better is you can surf net on it for free (your broadband charges will apply) and even watch online videos.

If you are getting it only for wrestling games then I would say spend 200 rupees playing the game in parlor as they get repetitive and easy after initial 2-3 days.

The cost which will hurt your pocket will be the price of games rather than the console itself which I think is worth every penny.

You also need a bios to run PCSX2 from one of your friend's PS2. Don't know if it's legal though.

Illegal and modding consoles is also illegal.

I have been using PCSX2 since it's first version was released. I have played many PS2 games like Devil May Cry 3, downhill etc but I enjoy when I play on console. I can't even afford a PSP. About Bios, it's illegal (though I have it) however you can use a BIOS dumper which is legal.

I have finally decided to buy a PS2 but I am looking for a one with Hard drive. Is it available or it comes is modded PS2 category?

Did you even read the other posts in the thread?
Yes I have and I don't agree with most of them which are simply criticising PS2. It's a cheap advice to go with an Emulator but still it's useless. I can easily run PS1 games on my PC but still I play my PS1 games on the console.
