New Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010.

Large population is not much of factor. Its more about the sporting culture.

Aussies have sporting culture and as I said they have very multi cultural society as well which means people from certain region of world dominating in particular sports style are more in Australia than anywhere else.

We are developing sporting culture for some games here in India and I am sure the CWG would have increased the interest of young people in some of these more. The problem with India is that every child is concerned more about studies than sports. And those who care about sports invariable are leaned towards cricket.

Although most of the nation is happy with second place finish at 39 Gold medals, I am disappointed as we could have had 45 golds and that does not even include surprise gold medals like the ones won by ladies in athletics.

We should seriously look at hiring Aussie coach for swimming team to have someone compete seriously at that level so that interest in that sport also rises.

Harayana which is a state of India includes 2% of country population but it won 40% (15 gold medals) of total Indian gold medals. So if Harayana was a country it would be standing at 5th place in Medals tally. So population is not factor, as sid said it's the interest how much people took into sports.

Haryana and Punjab are actually good places for a sportsman to be in. With corruption and favourism in hockey and cricket, its actually good if some one takes up wrestling or boxing. In athletics there are so many over age guys in competitions that juniors get no chance at all. :facepalm

Bet you that 'berserk' means shouting at the telly in disappointment.

The whole Tendulkar thing is not verified in other sources. It only appears in Indian media, at least for all the articles I have read. What is confirmed is that someone threw the washing machine down the stairs.

Yea, all I've heard is that there was damage to a washing machine

Not just that, policemen posted there say they also shouted slogans against batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who played a pivotal role in ensuring India's victory in the Bangalore match, and flung a washing machine down from the eighth floor of their tower.

amazing.

hooliganism

the Australian athletes reportedly threw a washing machine down from the eighth floor, said a senior officer.

bahaved like monkeys.

OC is not releasing CCTV footage of the said vandalism by some players.

I think CCTV were not working. :laugh

Keep the in conditions akin to a cage that is what you'll get.

Were you living there, how do you know what were the conditions of those rooms. It might have been better than what the media shown before the games.

They behaved very disgracefully atleast . Monkeys do that often to the houses.

Same question right back at you. Pictures showed the place to be a dump.

There was news that HT prepared his own rooms for it to make spicy headlines. How true is that nobody knows.

I'm not saying that India done it very well, it was like hell before the games started but it was better later. Athletes have came up saying.
