New Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010.

I just watched the opening ceremony instead of watching Chelsea vs Arsenal. The ceremony was pretty long. I was expecting some Indian actors would feature in the end of the ceremony, but I didn't see any.

The opening ceremony is just awesome We have really put some mouths close...

But I know thier mentality they will still say something bad as they habituated...

Really a great ceremony to watch

I just watched the highlights of the opening ceremony, it wasn't anything special to me, but then I'm not really a fan of any opening/closing ceremonies. I guess I'm just not really into the culture side of things that they are used to showcase.

Like in Geography we're studying Bali, the major attraction there is their culture, and I'm pretty much thinking to myself along the lines of Bali has no such appeal to me whatsoever, as I'm just not into that sort sort of stuff.

Anyway it's now only a few hours to the real stuff kicks off.

The timezone difference is pretty useless, the morning over there is our early evening, so all evening events are going to be in the middle of the night our time.

I like the theme song of the games.

The one by AR Rahman (the "O Yaaro Yeh India Bhula Liya")? He was criticised majorly for it. But in the end, he didnt make any major tweaks and suddenly people started calling the song "great".

I am sure they dont have any other theme song.

I don't know what the song is called. It's available in the video section of their website.

Yeah its the same one. Its a good song, actually. Dont know what some people saw bad in it. Rahman received huge criticism for it, and people started talking that he was over rated and all.

Mind blowing opening ceremony!!! Wow, WHAT A SPECTACLE!!! After all the dirty things that were discussed in the last few weeks, this one spectacle of a ceremony seems to be a huge healing balm for all that! TRUE SPECTACLE!!

Lol, I was just watching the first swimming heats.
All the "white" countries like Australia, Canada, England, NZ, and Wales, were owning up, while all the "black" countries were really struggling. India were actually doing alright in some races.
This country called Seychelles, came pretty much last in every heat they were in, by a massive margin.
They should just have the same qualifying time for every country, as it just looks stupid when five people in the heat are so far ahead of the other three.

Also can someone tell me what was so special about the opening ceremony?
It just looked the same as all the others I've watched, but with Indian culture instead of another host countries culture...

I'll be the opposite in the track :p Usually the Asian countries like China, Korea and Japan have a few in there to break it up.

Yeah I know, but we don't enter 100m sprinters.
My point is why are they there, when they just get wasted?
There should just be one time, which is think there is for the track.

It's the heats and I believe they met the qualifying time to make the CG. And the track is exactly the same, if you watch the heats you will see tons of guys getting wasted early on.

I never expected this from CWG committee, I was thinking that they won't do it, they won't be able to.

But I was wrong, great ceremony after all the ████ happened. Truely great ceremony. Though it was long but it was entertaining. When Indian players came out, me and my brother were howling. It was really nice to see.:clap

Waiting fro the action to begin.

From what I've heard there's not just one time, some countries have different times, so they can get athletes involved in those sports, e.g. African's in swimming.
From what I've seen the first heat is full of the people who didn't met the official standard.

That link Chewie posted pretty much explains it.
