New Zealand In Australia

are they going to pick macgill for New Zealand?

I don't think he's in the frame for ODI selection. We are only playing ODI's vs Australia. Plus, I think he had his surgery this week. I remember reading an article. They don't much around do they when you have a tour to be ready for.

What was McCullum's captaincy like? He was oblivious and clueless a times apparently, but I'd rather gauge opinion from someone who saw.

Shame for the Australians and a shame for MacGill who has been under Warne's shadow and will not get the chance to live as the No.1 spinner for a decent period of time if in fact he won't play a test again.

Brad Hogg will have to perform for Australia or they'll be stuck with spin. They need to hope that the young talent will come through for them since Hogg won't be around forever.

I never thought about that. I don't think he was the best choice for Vice Captain, though he seems like a decent pick. I'd have perfered Styris, he has lots of experience in Domestic and County cricket.

It's a warm-up. The result doesn't mean much. That Aussie side were attacking early on on purpose. It's part of the Aussie plans. We played with an illegal side for starters. Mills and Vettori were rested. Easily the best 2 bowlers in the side, plus they can bat and would have got us home. Plus we bowled first, obviously because that's what we'll end up doing if the Aussies win the toss.

The bowling started rusty, but considering they were like 200 after 30 overs, we pulled things back pretty bloody well. It was beneficial, plus now the selectors can dump OBrien from the team for next time.

The only problem is Vincent, who hasn't scored runs in a while. Plus Hopkins is pretty bad, but hopefully we won't have to play him.

Excuses.

I said I thought we did pretty well, you disagreed. Now when i'm telling you my reasons for thinking so, you're thinking i'm making excuses?

Get over it.

I think dragging the run-rate back and keeping them to 280 was a good job. Wickets all through the innings too was good. McCullum getting a big one will do him a lot of good. I think the Aussie pitches suit his batting. He likes the ball coming on a bit. I think Vincent is the same, but he doesn't seem to be in great nick at the moment.

Dam it feels like we're been sturck by the injury curse. Hogg some how had a Nail-trimming mishap, should be fine but just amazing so many injuries are popping up with no cricket.

It was an ok result for a practice. In an ODI there is pretty much only one goal, but for a practice, there are stacks of questions and only a few can ever be answered in 100 overs. NZ would be remiss if they neglected to make chancy selections like they did and in all honesty, even though they are well outside international selection, David Hussey and Pomersbach are in my opinion more scary customers than any one currently playing for NZ.

Andrew Symonds...

Now there is someone who'd be a better candidate to captain the ODI side over Michael Clarke.

Yeah maybe he would show up to another match drunk, what a role model for his team that would be.

Weather ain't good although the clouds might just be breaking up a bit. Warm and quite muggy. Shouldn't be any wet outfield crap unless it actually rains again.
