Trans-Tasman Trophy (NZ in Australia), December 2011/12

Unbelievable, what a win!

I'll put my hand up because I know I've been harsh on the team, but at the same time I've stuck with them even though I didn't think they could win it. Bracewell's spell was outstanding today, and our catching was much better than it was in Brisbane.

What a joke Warner getting the MOTM ahead of Bracewell is. It's like the League WC final where Lockyer got MOTM when the Kiwis won. You can only be bias within reason, and in this case Bracewell was all over the MOTM.

Considering the pitch and the only 100 in the game Warner did deserve it as well. Also considering Bracewell's spell that actually won NZ the game it was also deserved.

It was always going to be Warner, especially left to the public to vote.

What a game of test cricket! One of the best ever! Warner only got MotM because it is voted by this aussie public via the viewer's verdict on the Cricket Australia app. they explained this on TV :)

Yeah I don't know why on earth you would let the public vote. Bracewell was awesome, just as we get into some test form we go on a diet of domestic t20 cricket for the next month :facepalm

FTR the New Zealand public vote on our home matches' MOTM as well, I think they've been doing it here for two seasons now. I don't think we're as one eyed as Aussies though, considering our cricketing public is used to losing. :p

Does it even matter who gets Motm? It's a team game anyway :)

Well done Kiwis. Australia, what happened guys? You used to be cool.

Yeah, I'm so keen for some more New Zealand test cricket. Sadly is all we've got is the HRV Cup and Big Bash to keep us entertained in the middle of summer. Oh, and that minnow test series going on across the Tasman.

Not really, I'm pretty stoked atm. I did drop an F bomb when Warner got the MOTM though, because I think what Bracewell did was something very special, considering it's the first time in my life that I've witnessed us betting Australia in a test, well the last time it happened was when I was five months old.

I just thought I'd post this from cricinfo, because I think it's a nice summary:

An incredible Test match that was riveting throughout. We'll again say it's a pity that the Test series lasted just two games, but some of the results over the last few months have been an excellent endorsement for the five-day version. Let's hope India's tour of Australia continues that trend. Long live Test cricket.

Anyone else think hawke eye showed flaws today? It was clearly inaccurate ay one stage.

Definitely imo. Those last two LBWs looked to hit further left (towards middle instead of leg) than Hawke/Eagle Eye showed them to. I'm not sure if it was the camera angle or not, but at the time I was pretty unimpressed with it.

When I watched, Greig referred to it as "Eagle Eye." Is he just being a fool, or is it actually a different company? I'm prepared to certainly believe the former in relation to Tony haha

It's not 100% yet, but it will only improve through continued use.

It's a real shame that two really good test series have not even been series :/

Eagle Eye is from a NZ company, Hawk Eye is the UK one. Channel 9 switched to Eagle Eye last year might have been earlier but they were definitely using it last year.

Do they all have the same levels of accuracy?

Also, this just fits in with my personal cynical opinion that the BCCI are waiting until they develop their own tech that they can benefit financially from. Maybe, I'm just being a female dog though haha

Hard to know but I think Eagle Eye was mentioned as being slightly more accurate. Either way it is more accurate than anything our eye sees.

Congrats Kiwis for a fighting victory to level Trans-Tasmanian series..well bowled and well fielded, though their batting still is not up to the mark. This will give them tremendous self-belief ahead of next yrs home series against the Saffers.

Thanks Australia for all the unpredictability resulting in loads of entertainment in test match arena, first against Saffers, now against Kiwis..While its Pakistan who have provided wholesome entertainment in ODIs, Aussies are getting better at it in test matches.
Congrats Warner emulating his hero Sehwag's approach with a brilliant maiden test hundred, but their batting still revolves around big 3, Ponting, Clarke and Hussey..either these guys decide to shoulder more opportunity or it's back to younger batsmen needing to show more steel in the face of sustained pressure. Pattinson has been very impressive too with his smooth action and hit-the-deck kind of fast bowling, Siddle too utilized bowling-friendly conditions to the hilt.

Call it whatever you want, but this kind of sporting/result-oriented pitches will decide test cricket's future going forward in this decade.
