New Zealand In Australia

Why do New Zealand keep on persisting to play with two spinners? It isn't a very common tactic in Australia, besides Sydney. Don't they have enough quick bowlers?

Shane Bond and James Franklin are both Injured which sucks because the next pace bowler in line is Ian O'Brien which has the same potential as a junior cricketer.

We have 4 million people. How many decent fast bowlers do you expect we have? Trust me, if Bond and Franklin weren't injured there wouldn't be problems.

Vincent is in bad form and Sinclair hasn't looked comfortable. How's defence looks good and opening might be the best spot for him.

Is there really anything wrong with that? If that's their best side, they should play it. God knows having more than 3 pacemen bogs the over-rate down to a crawl. Patel is effective and one of the reasons that he became an ODI player was because he had skills that complimented the team.

I am not saying it is a bad thing, I am just saying it isn't common practice.

and Hayden. :p Why did they class Lee as an allrounder on the line p thing? Your not that desperate are you? Australia have too much depth in their batting to lose this I reckon but the Kiwis could give them as good a game as any.

Clarke dream period as opener has definitely go by. Once again our man Ponting doing the business, Hayden seems to have fallen out of that purple patch. Symonds looking good right now.

Hayden will make a century at the MCG on Boxing Day like he always does.

Ponting's average at the start of last summer was 41 but now it's 44. After 278 innings.

What a shot. That was mammoth. Ponting just hitting the form that he was in last year.

He's been really struggling of late when Gilly or Hayden hasn't been here.

Here are all of his scores from recent until when he first opened.

7, 0, 0, 3, 38, 9, 21, 103*, 97, 66, 105*, 0

I honestly don't think he should be opening.

Well if hes going to open one of Hayden or Gilly won't be there. After that 4 game period why wouldn't you want him to open. But since he was pushed back down the order he just hasn't been able to produce that again.

Ponting deserves a 50 average in ODI but that would be some feat from where he is.

Great stuff Punter! Ton at his home ground just after his 33rd birthday! What a machine!

Looked like an inside edge at first.
