Respect for New Zealand!

I'm eating a Kiwi today, something england didn't manage to do :D.

Anways, Vettori is a legend, what a bowler he is, amazing.

England need Freddie back.

and, yeah we need to sort out our team soon enough, say goodbye to Akmal, and Put Afridi at no. 8 position, and reserve Fawad.

Wow, glad I went and played cricket today and didn't have to watch that shambles. Ambrose has all but sealed his fate, if he's not dropped from the ODi team then we're asking for problems. Then stick Mustard opening with Bell and bring Freddie in for Wright and we're sorted. Also, well played Tim Southee, deserved his MOTS award, has bowled extremely well since the first game of the ODi series. Well played New Zealand, good tour from you guys, been some good banter in this thread and the respective away series thread. New Zealand were woeful in the Test series but very good in the ODi series, could easily have been 4-1.

The lack of yorkers by our bowlers is appalling, why we need Flintoff back. I thought Jimmy used to be really good at yorkers at the death? I thought it was a mistake to not use Wright at the end too. Proven on several occasions how good he can be at the death. Sidebottom looked tentative with the ball, his back isn't right. Not long till the first test, I hope he is fully fit by then.

Batting?
Bell is increasingly infuriating, we can't keep playing a player who gets in, then immediately gets out. Tries to be too cute with his batting I think. Cook, again, he showed he isn't good enough at this level. Shah was very impressive again, one of the best batsman in both our sides. Get him into the Test side, don't care who you drop, just get him in. The test side haven't fired for ages in relation to big totals. Bell needs to stop looking pretty and get some big runs.

He is scoring runs, but he isn't going on. Maybe Collingwood would be dropped? He was in awful form in the Tests?

In 21 innings since his only ODI hundred, I'd say he has had starts in all but 5 of those innings. We need to change something, it's stagnant.

I think Ambrose was summed up in getting out to Vettori's worst ball. I don't remember too many balls like that from Vettori.

Well done New Zealand, you put the screws on us. You made us play badly. :clap

Don’t know why you regard Andrew Flintoff to be over with his batting career. Think Freddie is a specialist All-rounder, who isn’t done yet with International Cricket. he can still play the next world cup, just 30.

He's played in 63 of the ODI matches England won, averaging 43, out of the 123 he played for England.

Is it me or on the ball Bell got out on he got ready a bit weird? As in when he got ready to face the delivery.

Series averages

More runs from our batsman, bowling was dominated by the Kiwi's though. Particularly Southee and Mills. Broad, Swann and Collingwood did well for England. Swann should be more than useful vs the Proteas. Who are known for being poor players of spin.

Sureshot's article

Trott is a very good batsman, Joe. I would say he's behind KP and Colly, though.

All I can do is take my hat off to New Zeland. Considering they basically had half of what I consider to be their best team, they still managed to outplay us in all but 1 game in the one day series. Well played and after 6 months of playing the Kiwis i'm glad to finally see the back of them. Bring on South Africa.

Trott will be better than Colly if he gets some game time imo. List A average is about 10 runs more from Trott already and he's 5 years behind him. Shah is like the best batsmen in every series we play as well, he needs to move up the order.

Who do you think they are missing then? Ryder, Bond and maybe Franklin?

That was just dismal. Poor bowling towards the end of the innings, and poor in the field, which cost us a lot. Then the batting, well something has got to change, too many starts and then not going on from there (Bell the main culprit, Cook today as well). Mustard didnt do a lot wrong in NZ so not sure that he merited being dropped, I mean if you've got different captains for different forms of the game, I doubt different wicket keepers is going to have a negative effect.

Two positives from today's batting performance, Owais Shah, keeps impressing every time he plays, gotta be in that team. And I only saw the C5 highlights, but Bopara seemed to play well until he got out, again though, needs to convert the start.

Been a good contest England vs New Zealand, I guess over the 4 series, it's gone pretty much the way you'd have expected it to be. Congratulations to New Zealand for the ODI series wins, both well deserved. Proteas next, should be a great series!
