injured like he always is lol

Be careful when you say that to irrotev.....;)
Anyway, great way to return to the test side for Amla, he deserved the half century after showing resistance against a confident NZ attack, and hopefully he can build from this platform. Fleming's lack of 'penetrative' strike bowling options will work in SA's favour if they are selective in their shots, and definitive in their movements....

Yes be-careful indeed. I might even scan a newspaper article with Bond. He said he had only missed 3 ODI's and 1 test up until these South African matches (after back surgery). I don't understand why people on this forum go around saying that he has played less then half etc. He also called the Eden Park outfield-runup's a sandpit. Theres nothing he can do about it, just rest now. He will be with us for the Chamions Trophy, VB series and World Cup anyway. He said that those games are all that matters to him.

And it was a rhetorical question, I did not need it answered. :P

Yeah, I think he knew that anyway...; you're a fan of NZ cricket, you obviously know why he's not playing.
I can't wait to see how England and Australia cope with Bond during the VB Series though- he'll add another dimension to the NZ attack and the batsman will always have to be cautious (it'll be interesting to see what gameplan they adopt, too) of the threat he poses with his ability to penetrate a side.

Agreed, it will be great to watch Bond in action against Aus and NZ. Has a fantastic record against Australia in Aus. I still remember the VB series 2002-03 from memory where he terrorised the Australian batting lineup and of course denied Aus a place in the VB series finals.

yeh Bond troubles Ponting in particular...you could say Ponting is his bunny but they havent faced off since that super six match in the 2003 WC...funnily enough when Bond had Ponting caught at first slip lol

but yeh that VB series next year will be brilliant!

back on topic...ummmmm yeh well done Jeetan Patel on getting those wickets, should give the young fella some confidence :D

Wrong; you're actually referring to the VB Series of 2001/02 :p (Sorry, I had to point it out!)
England and Sri Lanka were the visiting nations for the 2002/03 series...

You've got a good memory! :p

Nice solid start by SA. NZ will need a Bond like spell to have any hope but Bond isn't there so as expected this is going to a draw.

Not looking good, no wicket yet. The bowling has been alright, but South Africa are going for the draw, so obviously they arn't playing many shots.

Its ok, if we win the next match its a drawn series. Even if its drawn its only a 1-0 loss.

The VB series is something I am really looking forward to. AUS/NZ games are always thrilling and theres a lot of them. With England there with exciting players also, its gonna be great. Lots of exciting cricket on the way. Ashes, Champions Trophy, VB series, World Cup

I hope Amla gets a century here, he's fought it out and deserves the just reward, Kallis has provided great support.

also the chappel- Hadlee series which will be before the vb series

Last I heard, the Australia v New Zealand games in the VB Series will also make up the Chapple-Hadlee Series.

yeh that is correct....a similar system to what they do in the Rugby Tri-nations and Bledisloe Cup.
