New Zealand Tour of Bangladesh October/November 2013

I was really hoping to see only Bruce Martin in the side as a replacement of Daniel Vettori but whoa! the latter is all praises for Mr. Sodhi who has just started his career. One specialist spinner was enough with Williamson in the side if you ask me but Sodhi's sudden rise I guess has to do with him of an Indian descent and India's legacy of spinners. Anderson is btw, a good inclusion since he made runs against India A. Another man I would like to see wearing the test cap is Carl Cachopa. He looks a confident cutter and driver of the ball. Should be in the selectors' radar for the near future.

Glad Milne got selected he bowled ok against India A, only problem is not sure whether he'll get a game or not. I would personally play him ahead of Mills, who at 34 is surely nearing the end of his career.

Since the match was telecasted, got the oppurtunity to see him again. He was wayward at times, but boy isn't he fast! This guy for sure needs to be in the team more often, good for both NZC and International cricket as well.

Yeah, just a guy that needs to be persisted with especially needs some more ODI cricket under his belt, I would keep him away from T20s and definitely tests at this stage.

I find it funny that Devcich is in the team

After reading this thread and considering the recently concluded match against Sri Lanka A, really cannot gather why others talk highly about Sodhi.
Bowling 16 overs and going around at 7.5 isn't great, infact the three wickets he picked in the first innings were of the lower order batsmen.

Second match Sodhi has 0-109 after 22 going at 5's. His average is now at 53. Please don't get injured Bruce, although these Sri Lankan A players are probably better than the Bangladeshiessss

Its ridiculous how many people can talk so highly about a player without them seeing him even bowl a ball. Simon Doull, Richardson, Crowe etc. have all talked about how he could become one of the greats of NZ cricket, which is completely ridiculous. Has there ever been a cricketer this over-hyped in any country? I must say I am a bit worried that things have just come far too easy for him so early in his career, hes making teams left, right and center without doing anything worthwhile on the field.

I don't think those guys would have said those sort of things if they hadn't seen anything of him

Sure it's probably a bit of hyperbole but I don't doubt they see something in him

I know but its just ridiculously over the top, and I kind of get the feeling hes buying into it a bit as well. He might be very talented but even at such a young age the way he has been talked about by everyone you'd expect a bit of a better return than 25 wickets in 13 FC games. I'm really hoping he does end up making it as we are in dire need of a decent spinner of any kind, just something irks me with all the hype he is getting.
