New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

i am not a fan of nightwatchmen, i just think its bit negative thinking,,, well u may save your self from getting a reguler batsman out before end of the day but u can alwasy be sure ul loos a wicket early in the morning. anyway with the better batsman you should be able to gard a wicket, if not you shouldnt play him. if you dont expact your front like batman to gard the wicket how do you expact a tellender to do so..... :doh

Yea I'm not really a fan but Patel is a capable batsmen, I'd back him to score a few runs today.

since when does Ryder bat down the order? He opened against England IIRC

Man McIntosh is bad facing the short ball. You'd think he'd have worked on it after looking bad under it in the WI series.

And that's why he'll never be a international quality batsmen. He's a dud and the quicker New Zealand get rid of him the better.

Howsie added 3 Minutes and 25 Seconds later...

It would be nice if they scored some runs though.

Yay for some luck. Patel seems to be batting rather well. :sarcasm

Guess that biased SL dude was wrong.

39.2
Thushara to McIntosh, no run, another short ball and this one takes him down! McIntosh has struggled against the short ball and continues to do so, eyes off the ball as he looks to hook this one, the ball smashes into the helmet, starry-eyed surprise there for McIntosh

On a fairly slow, flat pitch. He's going to get killed by Australia if he's playing when they tour NZ.

He'd be dead right now if this was South Africa. Steyn woulda loved bowling at McIntosh.

More harsh calls from me.:p

I would rate McIntosh higher then Guptill atm. Guptill is a great ODI batsmen but he's not up to test standard.

Way to go Sri Lanka you let him get 50 now the selectors will pick him again. :(

Yeah, but that's the thing. Having to face good pace and bounce in its element is such a novelty.

McIntosh reaches his 50, good solid inngs,NZ needs someone to stay there on the pitch and both the bastman playing quite steadily, and not playing rash shots, this is a good partnership for NZ...While SL applying pressure from both ends, spin at both ends, Murli and Mendis....

Guptill not up to test standard. I can't say I agree with that. At least Guptill hasn't shown any major weaknesses as of yet, McIntosh on the other hand..

And Patel's out.

I suppose that's fair, but McIntosh has the ability to knuckle down and not mind if the scorecard isn't ticking over, I don't think Guptill can do that.

I don't doubt that Guptil will be the overall better player, but atm, I judge Mcintosh higher.
