New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

Meh. Hopefully O'Brien can hang around with Vettori and we can sqeak another 15-30 runs out. I don't really have too many qualms with the batting tbh, the bowling was pretty good and the ball was spinning. Just need to work on rotating the strike over.

Howsie added 1 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...

1 went with, 1 went against

200-5 and you lose a batsmen. 270-8 and you get a life. Doesn't really even out.

Vettori's our best batsman. I get laughed at for saying at, but hen really is.

All the same, the wasted starts are the more frustrating element on display here.

Yea I pretty much agree. Usually I would be pretty ticked with the likes of Ryder and Taylor not going on with it, but for some reason I'm not. I guess I just expected us to do alot worse.

Not saying that 280-8 is any good though.

Its upto Vettori now,he can bat,New Zealand RR 2.67 scoring 281/8 in 105 overs, its now 4th day,SL would like to have around 300 lead if they want to win, right now they ahead by 171 runs, lets see what happend today...

Mendis: 1/75. That's pleasing. 37 overs from Murili and 3 wickets, that's reasonable. Only 66 runs for those wickets is the disappointing part. Man, when he retires it's going to be a colossal loss for SL. Can;t wait for that day.

Anyway let's hope there's another delay this morning. I wouldn't back us to bat for any more than a day. It's probably about 50/50 draw/SL win at the moment.

"9.40 Good morning to you all, its a far better morning than the last three have been. While its not sunny by any means there is no rain around and play will begin at 10.00. "

:(

Mendis is not doing good cause he is bowling with no plans, too much variety is not always good but I think he looked a bit effective when he was bowling those off breakers and another thing is that he's not flighting his carom ball. TBH I think he's not gonna end up anywhere near a "good test bowler" if he just keeps bowling in this fashion.

k now lankas must gat something like 250+ in anout 65 overs. this will give them about 110 overs to get kiwi's out. even kiwi's will think they might have a chance of getting 400+ in 110 overs ......

Good on the Sri Lankan's for letting NZ use Recce Young as keeper today, hopefully Ryder and McCullum get well before we bat.

In just 9 overs SL are 46/1,they are playing like ODI,offcourse they have a good lead now 200 exact, they would like to get at least 300-300 and then attack on NZ bastman, because now its Day4 and 1session is coming to and end soon,so time reamining in the match is less, lets see..

SL going really after NZ bowling, they would certainly like to win the 1st test and put pressure on NZ,lets see when they declare, and what score is safe score according to the match conditions....

You wonder when Dilshan's luck's going to run out. He hit that ball of Martin straight up landed in no mans land and played and missed a few times. Really frustrating.

Martin looked sick to me. Props to him, his 5 overs were actually pretty good considering. He was about 5-10km down on pace though. Props to SL for letting us use reserve keeper too.

In just 15 overs they have got 76 for loss of only 1 wicket,Min overs remaining for today's play 69,so even of they play another 30 overs because they are in good position and also they are getting runs at good rate, they can still get good lead,it would be really interesting to see when SL captain declares....

Sri Lanka are looking good, they have raced away to 1/76 after 15 overs.
Dilshan is looking good to score a half century.
