NZ tour of India 2024 - 3 Tests

How are India gonna compete like this in Australia, I think Pujara must come back as number 5 and frustrate the Australia bowlers

This is bringing out the Greg Chappell in you! If Pujara comes back, there's no way we can afford to have him at #5. It is like saying SRT/ Sehwag making a comeback and batting them at #8. Pujara will be drafted in to the side- I dont have much confidence in Rohit, Virat, KLR on Aussie tracks.

Makes me feel to be a fan of cricket again!
The day they stop playing bilateral T20is, that be a good day to become a cricket fan again!

No Bumrah in this match ...hmm.
Bumrah is unwell! Or atleast that's what was reported in at the toss. I think they have rested him, with the series lost, no point in him being overworked. I doubt they will rest Bumrah in Australia, as he is expected to lead the side there.

From India's POV- no Santner, but they have replaced Santner with Sodhi- good move. I have always advocated having a leggie in the squad. Don't be surprised if he gets a 5-wicket haul here. With Ajaz ,the leftie and Sodhi, the leggie- works cut out for the Indians here.

In all this, we seem to have forgotten the favourite punching bag of Indian cricket- KLR isnt playing today as well.

Pujara @5 would be a waste. Plus Sarfaraz and Pant have been decent in those position.

I would rather drop Gill in favour of Pujara and have Sarafaraz at 5 to get the all important experience in Australia where you need to grind it out unlike what he has been playing internationally so far. Should be a good learning experience. Also, Rohit needs to go back to taking time before exploding and converting the start into a huge innings unlike his current approach that he has adopted since the last couple of years. We already have an aggressive opener in Jaiswal and rest of the players are free stroke makers too. We need our experienced players to drive the innings so that the youngsters can play their natural game.

I would also have been inclined to have Washington there who can be really handy with the bat in those conditions.

One must feel for Vihari. Superb batsman, an absolute team player but cannot find the spot coz he is not one of those fancy stroke makers. Not sure what is India trying to achieve on a tough tour of Australia. Do they expect to score 400 in a day? We need marquee players in the lineup. Slambang players won't last long in those conditions. Heck, they are failing even at home against NZ in the current series.

NZ are doing one thing consistently while batting and that is scoring 240+ each time. India were comfortably placed until the last 15 mins or so. So I think we are gonna see another instance where we fail to get past the opposition's total.

Also surprised with the talk of bringing back Pujara. I think it's safe to say his India career is done. Extremely unlikely that the selectors will go back to the bygone era.

Australia are gonna have a cakewalk. None of our batsmen instill any confidence in me.

Siraj took a review? For what?

Also, why was he out there protecting Kohli? That too in a home test match?

I actually thought it was a good idea to have Siraj there to knock the tricky last few mins out. Virat had a brainfade. There was no need for the run and even for the man of his fitness there wasn't a run in it. I guess Jadeja would have been a good choice to bring in instead of Pant as there would have been an X factor saved up for tomorrow. He could play the second fiddle to Gill while Pant can fire the cylinders if India gets close to the NZ mark which at the moment looks far even with Sarfaraz and the 3 all-rounders waiting to bat.

If India lose 3-0 this test series i think Rohit Sharma might have to step down as test captain

The team looks down and out in every aspect IMO.

Especially the core group who has been playing from last 12 years - Kohli, Ashwin, Jadeja and Rohit who is only been there in tests since 2019.

Gill is someone who is following the footsteps of KL Rahul you always get the impression with him he is playing for his spot in the squad.

The younger group needs to step up , Jaiswal had starts in every game but has thrown it away unlike the England series.

Sarfaraz and Pant are similar type of players can blow the opposition in a single session or can shot themselves in their foot.

Sundar is a exciting prospect but looks like at th moment there is just too much of a burden on him to do well with both and ball.

Big wicket that.

Pant was looking good.

Sarfaraz Khan blew away two opportunities at a crucial batting position after that 150 in Bangalore.

Pressure of International cricket is a different ball game altogether.

In Australia if they play him not expecting much from him.

In India it was his best chance to score some big runs which he has not done after the Banglore knock.

Tough on him still a long career ahead but needs to step up when the team needs him and this was a great opportunity at his home ground.

Ashwin thinking about what to post in next YouTube podcast aka Kutty Story.
