Great start to this league! Looks very interesting! Good Luck!
BTW is the answer D9?

I'll go H7 if it's still available

BTW I presume that's KP because neither Colin Farrell or Adam Duritz play for England...

Spiders Squad: SACA retain Afridi, sign Bravo and Ntini
Team News from Dylan Cleaver, OPL correspondent

Shahid Afridi was retained by the South Australia Cricket Board, after representing the Redbacks in 2009/10, to play for the Spiders in the OPL. He is the second most expensive buy of the announced players so far, fetching $850,000 AUD. The Spiders also bought West Indian calypso all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for $650,000 along with Makhaya Ntini for $500,000. Ravi Bopara was a steal - no other team was prepared to bid above his reserve of $200,000, resulting in the Spiders buying him for $220,000. They also forked out $200,000 apiece for Bangladeshi batsman Mohammad Ashraful and Indian batsman Rohit Sharma.

Probably the state side with the fewest big names - Graham Manou will captain the side with the only slightly well known players being speed merchant Shaun Tait and elegant middle order batsman Callum Ferguson. Aiden Blizzard is known as a strong hitter of the ball while Peter George and Dan Cullen have been on the fringe of the Australian team at times.

The Entire Squad is:

Graham Manou (c)
Cullen Bailey
Aiden Blizzard
Cameron Borgas
Dan Christian
Dan Cullen
Callum Ferguson
Peter George
Michael Klinger
Shaun Tait

Stallions Squad: Morgan, Jayawardene and Harbhajan contracted
Team News from Dylan Cleaver, OPL correspondent

EoinMorgan.png
SouthernStallionsKit.png

On the back of consistently brilliant performances for their countries in the limited overs formats, it was no surprise that Eoin Morgan of England and Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka would be expensive buys, but the Stallions clearly thought it would be worth it for the class they bring to the table, even if it set them back $750,000 for each player.

Also signed were Indian spinners Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra - Harbhajan at a cost of $500,00 while Mishra only earned $200,000 for his services. Promising sub continental batsmen Dinesh Chandimal (Sri Lanka) and Fawad Alam (Pakistan) made up the six players, each costing a surprising $300,000.

The Stallions would probably be the next strongest NZ side after the Eagles in terms of local talent, with players such as the McCullum brothers, Shane Bond, Neil Wagner, Aaron Redmond and Neil Broom enlisted.

The Entire Squad is:

Brendon McCullum (c)
Shane Bond
Neil Broom
Nathan McCullum
Johannes Myburgh
Michael Papps
Aaron Redmond
Hamish Rutherford
Shanan Stewart

Good to see Bond back, it's only four overs, so he should be alright.

TBH I don't think their squad looks that strong, McCullum and Bond are their only consistent NZ international players, while I think their recruiting in terms of international players has been pretty poor. (Alam, Chandimal and Mishra) :p

Harbhajan is a surprise pick. I guess his recent form with the bat helped him a bit.

G8 if it's still open.

And wooh, Bond is back, that is a great news.
But INT. picks are a bit unusual and Chandimal and Alam were costly too IMO.

Stingers Squad: NSW sign Sangakkara
Team News from Dylan Cleaver, OPL correspondent

KumarSangakkara.png
NewSouthWalesStingersKit.png

The New South Wales Stingers have signed two wicketkeepers into their squad - most likely as a side effect from their loss of regular keeper Brad Haddin to the UT Gators. Kumar Sangakkara was the star buy at $750,000 but is possible that Tatenda Taibu, who cost $250,000, may perform the keeping duties as Sangakkara has taken to the outfield in recent seasons.

Also signed were two Indian pace bowlers - Ishant Sharma earnt a slightly surprising $350,000 AUD, which was far less than his IPL contract. Irfan Pathan also boarded ship with the Stingers, which cost them $400,000. English all rounder Dmitri Mascarenhas gained a contract worth $300,000 while South African pace bowler Morne Morkel earnt the next largest sum after the Sri Lankan keeper, $500,000.

Possibly the squad with the strongest local players - 9 of the 10 have represented Australia with success - the Stingers reputedly felt that it would benefit them to not blow their budget on celebrity overseas players but rather invest in the future of the franchise - Michael Clarke was quoted saying "There are certain places we can put our money to earn security for the franchise, both in corporate circles in terms of building a fan base and also in cricket circles in terms of coaching staff." The NSW management however declined to name any coaching staff at this stage.

The Entire Squad is:

Michael Clarke (c)
Simon Katich (vc)
Doug Bollinger
Nathan Bracken
Nathan Hauritz
Moises Henriques
Phillip Hughes
Steven Smith
Dave Warner
Shane Watson

Thunder Squad: Akmal, Duminy, Gibbs earn large salaries
Team News from Dylan Cleaver, OPL correspondent

KamranAkmal.png
QueenslandThunderKit.png

The Queensland Thunder's management team has admitted they had a large budget to spend - but they really didn't need to, as the numbers speak for themselves.

Not only did the franchise tempt Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds back with offers of unknown amounts of cash, the Thunder have bagged Kamran Akmal for $700,000 as well as South African batsmen JP Duminy and Herschelle Gibbs for $800,000 each.

We had targeted players we wanted for the balance of the side and with our budget allowance we could keep raising until we got what we wanted. Only one player we had initially been interested in got away
Queensland Thunder Management

Also contracted were English rising star Steven Finn for a surprisingly large $500,000 as well as Yusuf Pathan for $600,000 and Mashrafe Mortaza for $350,000.

Probably one of the least talented sides in terms of home players - only Ryan Harris and James Hopes have represented Australia in recent times, but all other members have earnt their place at first class level and their overseas players should fill any potential areas of incompetency.

The Entire Squad is:

Chris Simpson (c)
Matthew Hayden (vc)
Cameron Boyce
Lee Carseldine
Ben Cutting
Ryan Harris
Chris Hartley
James Hopes
Nathan Reardon
Andrew Symonds
