Brisbane, the home team started off with a bang, winning two on two. Later the lost their round three game before shocking Adelaide to pull off a magnificent win. The magic later faded off. Their epic heist against Napier last round has kept them in contention, but still the probability of them making it is really really slim thanks to their poor NRR. Even if they wouldn't get to the playoffs, they would like to atleast exit the tournament with a bang.
Wellington too like Brisbane started off brilliantly and were on top after two games. Then they faced a hat-trick of losses. Things changed in round six and after that, there was no looking back, their NRR is quite good but they would like to win the game to ensure their progress. If they lose, then they need quite a few games to go their way, that is they would need atleast on or two of Auckland/Sydney/ND/Hobart to drop points in their fixture.
Wellington skipper James Franklin has played a crucial role in Wellington's recovery
Sydney Buccaneers v Napier Heroes

Sydney had a terrible start winning one match out of their first four. Their round five win in England was the turning point of their season. They enter the round on the back of a four game winning streak and they have cruical momentum. One thing which will not support their case is their NRR. Sydney need to win at any cost if they want to progress. If they lose, their journey is literally over as they would need Adelaide to completely thrash Auckland and many other results would need to go their way. So Sydney would be aiming to win.
Napier have been really unlucky. They just scraped through ND to register a win in the first round and from there, they have only won one game, that also against this season's under-performers. A lot rests on this game for Napier, if they lose and Perth win then they would end up with the wooden spoon, which they wouldn't want. Their bowlers was been utterly disastrous to say the least as their best bowler's averages say. Their batsmen have done really well so set up competitive targets, only for the bowlers to flush it down the toilet. Also spoiling a team's playoff chances would add to their happiness.
Napier's bowlers would look to give a good performance in their last game of the season
Hobart Heroes v Perth Panthers
at Bellerive Oval, Hobart
Hobart
Highest run scorer: Ricky Ponting - 422 runs @ 70.3 [50s: 4 / 100s: 0 / HS: 96]
Highest wicket taker: Clint McKay - 9 wickets at 31.5 [4w: 0 / 5w: 1 / BB: 5/26]

Perth
Highest run scorer: Chris Gayle - 395 runs @ 49.4 [50s: 4 / 100s: 0 / HS: 90]
Highest wicket taker: Brett Lee - 15 wickets at 23.3 [4w: 0 / 5w: 0 / BB: 2/28]

Hobart have made it really tough for themselves. Prior the the seventh round, the were comfortable placed on the top four of the table, but then a brace of losses struck them and now they are wobbling at the sixth positing and their qualification to the playoffs is really difficult. They would need to beat Perth at any cost and that also by a sizeable margin. Doing that also is not enough, they would need a bunch-load of games going their way. They would need all four teams at the five point mark to lose by big margins and then only they could qualify. The probability is slim, but stranger things have happened in cricket. The question is - Would Hobart beat all odds and qualify?
Perth would be the most disappointed on how their season has gone. The team has plenty of veterans and the players in the side have plentiful of experience in their hands. What might have went wrong then? The problem was their batsmen and bowlers never really performed as a unit. The day the batsmen fired, the bolwers gave the match away and the day the bowlers did well, batsmen let them down. They would love to win against Hobart and hope that Napier lost to avoid the wooden spoon.
Brett Lee could be the man who would make the difference
Melbourne Racers v Northern Districts Knights
at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne
Melbourne
Highest run scorer: Sachin Tendulkar - 444 runs @ 88.8 [50s: 5 / 100s: 0 / HS: 93]
Highest wicket taker: James Anderson - 11 wickets at 34.9 [4w: 1 / 5w: 0 / BB: 4/49]

Northern Districts
Highest run scorer: Ross Taylor - 384 runs @ 64.0 [50s: 3 / 100s: 0 / HS: 67]
Highest wicket taker: Graeme Swann - 13 wickets at 22.1 [4w: 0 / 5w: 0 / BB: 3/17]

Melbourne would be the most calmest team heading into the final round. They still might miss on a playoffs spot but that is very unlikely. A win will take them to the top of the table. If they lose and all of Wellington, Auckland and Sydney win then it would come down to the NRR. If one of the three teams lose, Melbourne immediately qualify for the playoffs. However they would still be aiming to win and earn a place in the major semi instead of just scraping through and to depend on other teams and to though it out in three final games. The are the calmest outfit, but that doesn't mean that there ain't any stakes in this game.
Northern Districts had a horrid start, losing two in two. But then their bowlers bowled out of their skins to defend low totals in round three and four. Then two massive wins against Adelaide and Brisbane in the following rounds gave their NRR a massive boost and now they find themselves at second position. The top order has collectively performed and their NRR is good. The only thing which would be hurting them is their player dues as they might have to drop in-form batsmen or bowlers to accommodate the players who are yet to play a game. If the lose, they follow the same road as Wellington.
ND would look up to Graeme Swann ahead of the all important clash
Adelaide Stars v Auckland Aces
at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Adelaide
Highest run scorer: Cameron White - 436 runs @ 62.3 [50s: 4 / 100s: 0 / HS: 92]
Highest wicket taker: Mitchell Johnson - 10 wickets at 39.4 [4w: 0 / 5w: 0 / BB: 2/37]

Auckland
Highest run scorer: Virender Sehwag - 485 runs @ 60.6 [50s: 4 / 100s: 0 / HS: 98]
Highest wicket taker: Dale Steyn - 11 wickets at 28.6 [4w: 0 / 5w: 0 / BB: 3/36]

Adelaide would be really, or the disappointed on how the season has gone for them. Full of match-winners and magnificent players. Their locals and overseas are really strong and they are one of the best teams on paper. The took the season by storm, winning three games, but later nobody knows what happened. Bowlers and batsmen really under-performed. The should have never been in this positing but they are out. They would want to leave with a win, but it would be just a consolation. They have either been edged out in thrillers or beaten convincingly. Their bolwers have been the main culprit - leaking runs and not taking enough wickets.
Auckland too would be disappointed. After the round five mark. They were well on top with four wins. Then a loss-win-loss pattern ruined the ever important momentum and now they are at the fourth place. They would like to win and book a spot in the finals. But the task wont be easy against a wounded Adelaide side. If one goes by completing the series then they could win the game, but cricket games are not decided by sequences and series. So they would need to gear up, give it their best shot, because a loss would see the, depend on other teams and their okish NRR.
Dale Steyn would need more support from his fellow bowlers
