I need some help from Iri for the stats. Waiting for that so that I can proceed. Also Iridium & Sartaj are doing team reviews so waiting for them!

It's going to take me some time. I changing the formulas I use to calculate the bowlers stats. Hopefully be done later tonight.

I also hope you realize that you'll have to add the stats from each season manually to get the overall stats. Forgot to mention that.

Northern Districts Knights - Season 1 Review

+ Made it to finals
+ Batting top order

- Lost in the finals
- Bowling too reliant on Swann and Southee
- Craig Cumming

Graeme Swann (9/10) - Our big buy during the auction. Very fortunate to come away with him and he repaid the side in spades. Our top wicket taker for the season and key component to the team. Proved adept on all surfaces.

Marcus North (9/10) - An unexpected performer. The former Australian Test batsmen cemented the No. 3 batting position and made it his own. Averaged over 55 for the season which added to the strength of the top order.

Ross Taylor (8.5/10) - Apart from the duck in the elimination final, Taylor had a fine season. The burden of captaincy did little to dampen his batting prowess. Three fifties from the season may not seem like he contributed much, but an average over 50 and key partnerships with Marcus North say otherwise.

Tim Southee (8/10) - Our leading fast bowler. Regularly took wickets and kept the runs at bay.

JP Duminy (8/10) - Duminy opened the batting in a warmup match and despite performing well, couldn't find a place in the starting XI. When he was given a chance, he grabbed hold of it and never let go. His runs came at a rapid pace and he performed admirably as the sixth bowler. The wickets he took were bonuses.

Angelo Mathews (8/10) - Mathews filled the allrounder spot we so desperately needed. Despite not having the skill and experience of Jacques Kallis or Shane Watson, he provided quick runs in the lower order and pried out some important wickets.

Jamie How (7/10) - Along with Graeme Smith, How forged a strong opening partnership. How proved to be the more aggressive of the two. Sad to admit that I was not expecting much from the batsmen, and was pleased to be proved wrong. Sorely missed in the final round robin match.

Graeme Smith (7/10) - Part 2 of the ND opening pair. His international experience came to the fore in notching up five half centuries against quality opposition. Solid in his batting and not one to be rushed.

Doug Bracewell (6/10) - 4/42 against Adelaide promised a bright season. Those 4 wickets proved to be more than half of his eventual season haul. Kept the batsmen contained but should have delivered more.

Chris Martin (5.5/10) - Topped the run scorers chart Two wickets from two matches was again well below expectation. Like Bracewell he did a great job containing them, not so much in getting them out.

Reece Young (5/10) - Played primarily so we could slot in another international player. Batting was unspectacular, keeping was secure. Did what was expected, nothing more.

Alister McDermott (5/10) - Forced to play one game and took four wickets. McDermott has a strong bowling legacy and showed that in the final round robin match. Still wasn't enough to convince the selectors that he could consistently do it and was dropped for the finals.

Dean Brownlie (4/10) - Forgotten player really. Was forced to make way for Duminy 'cause he's better.

Craig Kieswetter (4/10) - An aggressive 14 in his only match still wasn't enough to hide the fact that there were better international options in the side.

Nuwan Kulasekara (3/10) - Dropped for Martin to accommodate Duminy. Did in two matches what it took Martin to do in six though.

Neil Wagner (2/10) - Was a dud in his only match. International experience will do him the world of good.

Moises Henriques (2/10) - Slow batting, expensive bowling. Not the way to impress the selectors.

Craig Cumming (1/10) - Would rather have had keyhole surgery on my scrotum than have Cumming play that final round robin match. At least he scored more than 0.

Tbh it is pretty harsh rating players on just one game, especially considering that they would be expected to fail at this level, i.e. Cumming/Henriques.

I had Adams (2 matches) and McCullum (3 matches) have economy rates of 6.8 and 6.2 respectively, when I was expecting both of them to be more or less permanent fixtures in my playing XI. My other fails were Gambhir and Rogers who averaged 28 and 10 respectively, and Mills and Clark who had economy rates of 5.3 and 5.2 respectively. Hauritz, Tharanga (29 off 26), and Fulton (did not bat) all only played one game, although Hauritz did go at 5.8 on a poor pitch so I guess that's pretty fail. Steyn was my only bowler to average under 40, so they all failed badly at taking wickets.

Craig Cumming (1/10) - Would rather have had keyhole surgery on my scrotum than have Cumming play that final round robin match. At least he scored more than 0.

Yooooouuch!!!!

The performances in the group matches were given a 0, 1, or 2, and the performances in the playoff matches were given a 0, 1, 2, or 3.

So Mitchell Marsh is deservedly my MVP after he did not turn in a single bad performance throughout the whole season. He was followed by Steyn who had a shocking finish to the season, and Sangakkara who was good without setting the competition alight. Gutpill and Sehwag were both too inconsistent, while Bates who started the season as my fifth choice domestic bowler ended the season as my number one. Like Steyn my skipper Williamson faded badly towards to end of the season, while Clark and Mills were the opposite and started to comeback into some form towards the end. It's quite clear if you look towards the middle/bottom of the list who my failures were.

Callum is so meticulous with his stats and numbers. Even more than I am. Secret Asian perhaps?

I'll get round to doing something similar next week maybe, I've got exams until the end of the month, but only 1 next week. So I should have a bit more time next week
