Amla's wicket turned out to be the key. Also had Watson not removed Elliott & McD you guys could have won. It came to to the last three overs. Melbourne went on a carnage in their last three and you guys did not manage much out of them.

Last three overs
Mel: 13, 17 & 2 (Total 32)
Wel: 5, 0 & 2 (Total 7)

Difference is 25 and winning margin was 15 so its poor death batting that cost you. :p

Yeah,tell me about it.
Felt the same,just want to get this game out of our minds.

Let's analyse the teams close-up...

Warner = Ryder
Tendulkar = Amla
Hughes = Elliott (kinda)
Morgan < Trott
Watson > Franklin
Wade = Paine
Christian = McDonald
Nannes > McKay
Siddle > Gillespie
Anderson < Broad
Mendis < Morne

Hmm yeah both teams are evenly matched but Mel are slightly better in paper and have the upper hand as they are leading now. The next game/two games would be interesting!

Yeah, I would say that Anderson is better than Broad. Ok Broad can bat but Anderson is a much better bowler IMO.

Back to the match, a good recovery from the middle order after the openers failed. We probably could've pushed on with Sachin and Morgan, but there was no problem after their wicket fell because we managed to push on and make a decent score. In the field, we couldnt have done much more to starve them of runs, especially after Amla went. He's the key, so once he goes we're in with a chance.

Like you said Dipak, it would've been closer had they pushed on with Elliott and McDonald, but that's cricket.

One change to the line-up, Trescothick in for Mendis

So,

Warner
Trescothick
Hughes
And then it's the same.

Stuart Broad needs to get the EPL auction out of his mind and focus on taking it to the third game instead.

I've told him that the casual statement made about us not looking to retain him has been blown out of proportion by the media.I hope he buys it.

Hmm, forgot about the bowlers, I'll go with this instead

David Warner
Phillip Hughes
Sachin Tendulkar*
Eoin Morgan
Shane Watson ^
Matthew Wade?
Daniel Christian ^
Tim Bresnan ^
Peter Siddle ^
Dirk Nannes ^
James Anderson ^

So Bresnan comes in for Mendis to bolster the batting on the excellent pitch

So that'd be it for the inaugural season of the Oceania Premier League. Well done Brook! All the smartness you showed in the locals auction payed off! Taking nothing away from Sartaj & Wellington though, what a great team they were, they defeated Melbourne twice, but Melbourne defeated them in the important games. Wellington's fight back after the hat-trick of loses would be remembered, what a comeback! Thanks to the other managers as well in particular Callum who helped me a lot with the auction rules and helped me framed them (my English is very poor) and all other managers as well. I enjoyed running this, I enjoyed the auctions. Season two details & Hall of Fame would be coming in a few days. Hope you all are continuing, if not then please post. Personally I'd like everyone to continue since everyone has been so awesome. :)

Congratulations Melbourne! Enjoyed the league though I wasn't much active. Team didn't help the cause as well. :p Well done Dipak!
