I just knew that at 32/4 we would always be behind the eight ball. And so it proved. I said before that Auckland had the upper hand and I was right. The better team won on this occasion.
Proud of our boys for making it this far. I had a pretty torrid time during the auction and had to scramble to assemble a competitive side and thought we would be wooden spooners after losing our first two games.

^ Ross Taylor's duck affected you here. He was so bloody consistent before this game.
Well this time it's our bowlers who get the job done, but our batsmen almost make a meal of a modest total. Our pace quintet was quite outstanding, with all of them going for under five runs an over. Williamson's captaincy was questionable at best, bowling himself for more overs than Clark, but it's too late to make a change their now. Batting wise both innings' were complete opposites. How do a top five all score between 27 and 38, surely at least one of them can go on to a half decent score. At the end of the day the win's all that matters, and we move on to Melbourne now.

Please...James Franklin is a mighty fine batsman,he may not be as technically sound as a Hashim Amla or a Jonathan Trott but the man's going to score a lot of runs for you (at least at the domestic level) and pick up a lot of wickets too. 
Huge upset there but you're taking a chance when you make us chase,especially on a dead flat track.
They needed to put a serious total on the board and at one stage, Sach and Watto were running away with the game,scoring at over 6 RPO but Franklin was quick to realise that McKay was having a rare off-day and brought the 5th, 6tg and 7th bowlers into the attack besides himself and that seemed to have done the trick...genius!
We pulled things back outstandingly well from there.It still required some chasing to do though and an early wicket of Paine induced some nervousness in the camp but that didn't last too long as Jesse Ryder brought out his A-game to which the Racers had no answers...Amla played the sheet anchor and when he got out,captain fantastic came out and did it again for us...
Geared up for the final series.
