You've just been updating where your at/telling us to post our line-ups, so there's not really a lot that we can post. People have been thanking your posts, and that's definitely what we prefer people to do rather than posting one word replies like "Okay" etc.

People will (hopefully) post when their matches get posted, but things will normally be slower after a resumption during a season.

Round 9 preview

The final round of the OPL is approaching and the tension as palpable. This season, the standings are so closely knit. In the back of the last round, things can turn around stupendously. The competition is wide open and it's getting as exiting as before. Now here is a small preview to show where all the teams stand and what are their chances of making it to the finals.


Sydney Buccaneers v Perth Panthers
at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney

Sydney, the home team, began their season the way they did it in season one, the lost their first two games, and won one out of their first four. But then they came really good and it's been same as the previous season. Their top and middle order have been good, but haven't built upon their starts and Zaheer and Warne have led the attack superbly. Lose and they are out. If they win, then it all boils down to the NRR.

Perth have come back as an improved team, yet they have been unlucky at times. Captain Gilchrist has had a much better season and Lee, Malinga and Muralitharan have been the stars with the ball. The player of the season for them would be Chris Gayle, who has slapped two tons and has amassed 461 runs, only 3 behind Ross Taylor.

Zaheer Khan's bowling would be tested by an in-form Chris Gayle


Hobart Heroes v Northern Districts Knights
at Bellerive Oval, Hobart

Hobart had a decent start to the season, and after round six were comfortably placed at the third place, however with two losses, they have slipped straight to ninth. The batsmen have done their job well. The bowlers have been a let-down, barring highest wicket taker Morne Morkel. It is shown by the fact that only he and McDonald have averages below 30. A playoffs spot is a mere dream, but they will look to sign off with a bang.

ND have come through with one of the best comebacks ever. Their first win came in round four, and they were dead at the bottom for the first two thirds of the tourney, they were unlucky and lost eve when the deserved to win. However, the win in round 6 sparked off a resurgence, and now they sit at fourth place. Most of the credit would go to captain Ross Taylor, Hashim Amla and Marcus North, their three premier bastmen, the first of the the highest run getter. Chris Martin has kept his bowling nice and tidy. They have a healthy run rate, so if the win, they should be in, but if they lose, they are out.

Ross Taylor has played a massive role in ND's resurgence


Brisbane Brawlers v Auckland Aces
at The Gabba, Brisbane

Brisbane were at the top in round six, now they have lost two games and have been dragged out of the bottom four. Barring Cummins, none of their bowlers have stepped up and Neil Broom hasn't been dropped despite a nightmare season. Batsmen have been decent though. They have an alright run rate. A win followed by an ND loss should see them through, however they can still be shot out if the win. Lose, and they are definitely out.

Out of the teams with four wins, Auckland have the best run-rate. Their bowlers and batsmen have been quite decent, and have played like a team always. No one has stood out but they have played well as a team. Ian Bell has announced himself in the side quite well and Mills and Guptill have stepped up when required. A win would be enough see them in the top four, but if they lose, that's the end of the road.

Dale Steyn would look to strike early more often


Adelaide Stars v Wellington True Falcons
at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

Adelaide would love to get this season off their minds fast. The started decently, but then things fell apart, they had some managerial problems too. Their bowlers have bowled well and batsmen have been decent. They have been unlucky or either both bowlers and batsmen haven't clicked together. Nonetheless the would like to sign off with a win, and look forward for next season.

Wellington had financial problems before the season and as a result had to sell of their premier overseas. However the less knows overseas in du Plessis and Patel have played really well. Stuart Broad has been a let down and with James Franklin and Jesse Ryder coming good towards the end, there is a spark of hope. A massive win coupled with losses of Auckland and ND might just allow them to sneak in, lose and they go back home.

It has been "one of those seasons" for Adelaide


Napier Heroes v Melbourne Racers
at McLean Park, Napier

Napier would be really happy the way the season has gone. They have improved heaps and are second on the table. Brendon McCullum is their hero with the bat and Kallis and Quiney have chipped in. Vettori has been reliable with the ball. A win should see them steal the top spot. A loss, and it all comes down to NRR. A win or a loss by a small margin should be enough for them.

Melbourne have done well this season. They started off with a bang, they lost games and have come back after that. However their performance is nowhere near last season. Batsmen and bowlers, both have done quite well. They would need Warner and Watson to fire at the top and be more consistent and Anderson would have to bowl better, if they have to be the champs and lift the trophy once again. A win and they retain the top spot, a loss could see them get pushed out the top two, but they need to prevent a loss by a massive margin.

You've just been updating where your at/telling us to post our line-ups, so there's not really a lot that we can post. People have been thanking your posts, and that's definitely what we prefer people to do rather than posting one word replies like "Okay" etc.

People will (hopefully) post when their matches get posted, but things will normally be slower after a resumption during a season.

Yeah even I guess that. I think the preview would spark off some activity.

Decent preview there! Good to see that we're at the second spot and even if we lose in our next game we'll still have a chance to qualify for the play-offs.

McCullum should be the key for us he needs to get a partnership running with Sinclair who'll be playing his first game of the season. Kallis and Quiney have added great strength to our middle order, Umar Akmal and Styris have also played some useful knocks down the order for us and hopefully they'll all perform in the final round too. Tuffey's form has been a big question throughout the season he has only picked up 4 wickets in 8 matches so far, this time around we really need something extraordinary from his side as we go up against the defending champions next up.
