rahul - my answer is in my post above...i think they(esp. Akhtar)are going to go overboard looking at Perth conditions...and just in case they do well, even then its not always those 17-18 wickets that are going to give you the victory...you have to bat too...and apart from Youhana and Inzy I don't see any of those fresh faces making life hard for Mcgrath, Gillespie and Kaspro...and perhaps Lee...would love to see him bowl there...

squiz - donno what u r driving at...what I meant was they should have had a test match at Perth last summer against India and not against Zimbabwe...then they would have benefitted more against India as they are going to do against Pakistan...and I think its a rule MCG's the Boxing Day but I think last ashes in Australia ended at the Gabba where Caddick and Vaughan won the last test in a dead rubber - right? I may be wrong...speaking from memory...

Course the SCG is the grand finale. The world couldn't survive if SYDNEY didn't get its name in the papers. Whats so great about it anyway? Sydney/NSW is an absolute total hole compared to Melbourne/Victoria.

Someone lost to Western Australia Second XI today. They were Pakistan. Were bowled out for 83 in the second innings, chasing 94 for victory. If that doesn't say anything what does? Although Inzy and a few others weren't playing.

I just hope Pakistan can at least put up a decent game, not like NewZealand. It's getting really boring watching Australia just thrash teams over and over again. + It's bad for cricket.. I still don't know why we're not playing England.

Most of the people want the Aussies to lose because they are tired of watching Aussies win all the time. There is no point in watching a test for 5 days knowing that one team is going to win in the end. Thankfully Aussies do not keep spectators waiting for 5 whole days and ususally wrap up the test match in 3-4 days. What people want to see is tightly fought game with teams winning indivdual sessions in a test match. Australia is not giving that to the people. but its wrong to expect Australia play below par only to make match more interesting. Other teams need to raise the bar and try to catch up with Australia. I think Pakistan is a well balanced team and by the time the first test is played they will have acclimated to the playing and weather conditions. Australia do not perform well under pressure. They are doing so well only because they are not subjected to any sort of pressure. Pakistan needs to play aggressively.

I am Indian but I will be supporting the Pak in the test series. I hope pakistan emulate what India achieved in their last tour down under or may be even better it.

the other countrys definately need to lift there game i think the state of some of the countrys plays a part in it bangladesh floods , zimbabwe mugabe so on so on. but one thing i cant agree with is u say australia doesent perform well under pressure , i dont know how u can say that considering all the times australia has kept cool under pressure and gone on to win the game. a certain andrew symonds destroying the pakistan attack in the 2003 one day world cup comes to mind , so on so on.

players like michael bevan , darren lehman and steve waugh and many more that were some of the best players under pressure ever to play the game probly i dunno how u can make that comment.

...btw are Aussies going to field a full strength team against Pakistan? :) ...or are they going to call up the same WA Second XI...just jokin...

seriously HOPE pakistan do something good down under...but cannot move my eyes off the reality...Pakistan 83 all out...ridiculous...but it has happened to India too...in 1992...they were 64 all out in one of the tour matches...happens...:)

dont want to know wht india did in 1992 or in recent past.I have never watched india as a superior team away from home. we dont rate india as big team ever.

so talk about pakistan they have a nice record in Australia won some series there. At this time pakistan are lagging behind but who knows there unpredictability. They have a strong bowling attack nice and brave batting linup, any thing can happen.but i know aussies are making slow wickets not a usual track we will see at WACA. they know Rawal pindi express and Karachi express. HAHHAHA

The thing about Pakistan is they had 10 players who can bat, and they still were all out for 83:
Hameed, Farhat, Youhana, Razzaq, Kamal, Akmal, Butt, Khan, Afridi, Malik

Yeah India is just a poor team that happens to have one bowler who has taken 434 wickets, a boorish young bowler who donno why dons a turban and gets called turbanator, a young twenty year old something who would do a better job being a street vendor in Baroda than taking 9 wickets in a onedayer in a great place called Pakistan.

India is just a poor team - how poor they are when they have three batsmen who share more than 24000 ODI runs and 20000 test runs amongst them. So what if the leading test scorer and leading wicket taker of the year 2004 are Indians? So what if they gave torrid time to the top team in the world 11 months back? So what if they defeated a team of Greats in their neighbouring country in both forms of the game? So what if they are placed third in the ICC test table? So what if they have fared better overseas in last one year than at home? India is just a poor team...of course so is Bill Gates a street peddler and Sultan of Brunei a poor man...

After my conscious admission of India's poverty in terms of cricketing excellence I would like to return to the discussion pertaining to Pakistan's perfomance...yeah Squiz it looks a bit awkward when the rising superstars of a great team like Pakistan fail to score 94 to win against a Second XI of Western Australia...I repeat myself...Perth is beneficial to those bowlers who know how to bowl there not to everybody...at least not to those bowlers who have not been able to win last two home test series...and this loss proves it more than anything else...And what's needed in Australia is not bravado...its a lot of experience and a lot of will power and the ability to look two people with 500+ wickets in eye and tell them that "if you don't get us early we will make you pay"...only 4 people have done it in last two years...3 Indians and One Englishman...

past results are a dangerous mirage...England won the 1932-33 Ashes by 5-1(whatever reasons) even when Sir Don was playing...they lost last Ashes 1-5...Kiwis won the first Trans Tasman trophy in Australia in 1984-85...they lost the most recent 0-2...India have squared the series in Australia at least twice but that doesn't demean the losses handed out to them in 1992 and 2000...

ridiculous reasoning...

After all those thought from every i uptill belive pakistan can give a tough fight and can be really handy for them and can rove to be a winner in australia. the point is that guys like sachin talking about pakistan failure against australian side well than what about indian team failure in pakistan when they came here they lost with pakistan A in which the average age of the players of pakistan A is just 24. ok i know this type of unpredicted thing happens in cricket and sachin u also says in above that pakistan lose two home serries well just to remind u that Pakistan India serries is just a faked and its all do for giving vajpiee a victory in election but plans cant work for him for a proof u should hear the theme song of pak ind serries that is jeet lo dil

yeah so India too lost this BG trophy to allow Howard one another term down under??? :)...such churlish reasons nations can think of after losing the only series that was not meant to be lost...:p...believe me fellas...Vajpayee's victory or loss depended more on what he did in India rather than what an Indian team did in Pakistan...we love cricket and consider it a religion, but fortunately our PM's tenures are not corresponding to the cricket team's fortunes...this is India for crying out aloud...the largest functional democracy in the world...such crap things can happen in nearby places but not here...there's a bit lesser crap that happens here :)...

leaving politics to a political forum and coming back to cricket...Pakistan lost to Second XI of Western Australia ...India lost to Pakistan A...India scored 320 plus in a onedayer and lost because of good batting by two players who happened to be in the A team but had international experience in their CV...Pakistan managed just 10-15 runs more than 320+ in two innings...got out for 83...frankly I don't see how you can compare these two events, esp. looking at the opposition that shall follow Pakistan's loss and that followed India's loss....one is sitting at Everest since ages and the other is trying to climb Kilimanjaro...ok leave it...

but in my opinion if the Pakistan team members are only blindly optimistic(like everyone here) and just try to move over this loss by citing past examples then bigger losses are in waiting and poor Woolmy's done for...but if they accept that they played p*ss poor cricket in second innings and set targets for improvement then of course they have a few guys who can give Aussies a bit of tough time...unless u accept where u stand how do u decide ur path to the destination? simple.
