Mohammad Hafeez trudges off to the pavilion
10 more overs passed as Pakistan continued to add more runs to their tally. But in the 16th over Mohammad Hafeez attempted to cut a shortish ball outside off-stump by Ireland Captain Trent Johnston. John Bray was at Gully and took a low catch. Hafeez was not very happy as he walked off towards the pavilion for his 29. It was looking evenly balanced again at 77/3. However Pakistani Captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq arrived and he and Mohammad Yousuf *(41) added 52 for the 4th wicket as Pakistan reached the half-way stage of the game. If Yousuf and Inzamam (24) continue at this steady rate, then Pakistan will ease home as they still have plenty of batting to come in; Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal.

Inzamam-Ul-Haq shakes hands with Ireland Captain Trent Johnson after a good game
Pakistan won their first game of the Cricket World Cup 2007 as they reached Ireland's 250 runs with 9 balls to spare. Ant Botha gave away 29 runs in his 2.3 overs. A defiant *32 by Kamran Akmal steered them home. However it has to be said that Ireland played very very well.

Nice win there, shame really, I wanted Ireland to repeat what they did in real life. Ireland is the nearest thing to a cricket team for me to support nation wise, in my opinion. But well done and now come on Pakistan! Win the WC
