ICC World Twenty20, South Africa
Day 6 Match No.13 PakistanVsSri Lanka
Jayasuriya Reaches Half-Century But Wicket Helps Pakistan
After their rapid start, the Sri Lankans continued where they left off. Sanath Jayasuriya continued the assault on the Pakistani bowlers by reaching his 50 off just 21 balls.
But at the other end, Sri Lankan Captain Mahela Jayawardene was struggling with the low bounce of the pitch and the dense atmosphere. He was very lucky to survive an LBW appeal in the 7th over we he expected the ball to bounce much more but eventually it kept low. The Pakistani fielders went up and knew it was out but Umpire Rudi Koertzen shook his head instead of the slow...rising finger being raised. The Pakistanis were stunned. Pakistan needed the Sri Lankan Captain out before he could settle. But it did not take long for them to get the skipper. Under the circumstances, Jayawardene played an insane shot. Debutant Sohail Tanvir bowled the leg-cutter, as Jayawardene tried for the big-shot...he got an edge and Kamran Akmal caught the ball very easily.
