What a win, you lot must be so relieved!

The bowling from Riaz and at times the others was spot on and quick. I still think some of the SA played silly shots and got themselves into a sticky situation but Sarfraz proved why he needed to be in the team.

Stood by the fact that Sarfaraz is much better behind the sticks, and it goes to show. Absolutely ecstatic.

Its not entirely World Cup related but I wondered what the Pakistani fans here think of this proposition?

I doubt it will happen because its been talked about for years but never happened, but if it did it would do wonders for both Pakistani and Irish cricket - Pakistan actually would have a home series; and Ireland would get a proper bilateral tour. Would be very competitive as well: just look at that pre-Champions Trophy tour!

e: although its something that really only should happen if its 100% safe for the Irish; which I'm not convinced it is at the moment. Perhaps in a few years, who knows...
This would be great as Ireland are in dire need of being pit against 'full members'. I'd say even if the ICC don't want to recognise it, for all intents and purposes they are on the same level as all the others.
They are as well drilled and professional a side as any other and sometimes even more so than Pakistan. I think the phrase 'Give em a run for their money' is becoming more and more clichéd by the day in this tournament and is a bit of an insult frankly.

Ok so now the only out of form batsman in Pakistan lineup is Umar Akmal assuming we'll play Harris Sohail instead of Sohaib Maqsood. Probably its best chance for Pakistan to get maximum from Umar Akmal and that is to bat him a little higher at No.4. He needs a little free hand to craft his innings as right now he either come in last few overs when you need him to have a go at each ball or he come when we are already in deep trouble and thus its very difficult for him to bat consistently.
According to me perfect combination for Pakistan in next match and in knockout stages will be something like this,

Sarfraz Ahmed (wk)
Ahmed Shahzad
Younis Khan
Umar Akmal
Harris Sohail
Misbha ul Haq (c)
Shahid Afridi
Wahab Riaz
Sohail Khan/Yasir Shah (depending on the conditions)
Rahat Ali
Mohammad Irfan

You need someone at No.4 who can rotate strike easily and either keep the momentum created by top 3 or play positive cricket keeping this in mind that there is Harris Sohail and Misbha to back him.

If Irish lack skills against Spin bowling Yasir Shah should be the deserving player on the team sheet. If seamers unnerve the Irish, Sohail Khan would the suitable candidate. Pakistan has about one week to prepare and brutual loss of 2007 still haunts us and my mind says that this WON'T be a straight forward, walk in the park victory. But still i hope for the best and I wish we can lift our heads up high and the trophy on 29th March. Good luck to team Pakistan! :)

Step towards revival of int. cricket in Pakistan. I'll be happy to see this tour :)

Pakistan have since been in contact with Zimbabwe Cricket over a potential tour in May of this year. It would be great if international cricket returned to Pakistan in the near future but it's got to be 100% safe for everyone involved.

What a loss in the quarters, if only that catch had been taken...if only.

But Wahab Riaz has been a highlight and he has fond some serious form, the issue is and this has been it for a long time: mediocre batting coupled with 1980s fielding. What can be done to stop the rot?

Misbah gone Now who gonna take the responsibility of Middle Order? A Big Question.
Will miss Misbah He is the most calmest Pakistani cricketer I have ever seen :(
Its not a good way for both Misbah & especially Afridi to end their careers.

just a fun read to lighten up, If anything pak can go back having got a great find in riaz during the WC, the fight he put up was remincsent of akram younis days, expect he didnt have irfan at the other end and fielders didnt support him, if not situation could have been much different

Pakistan was pretty unlucky, They lost most of their key players before the worldcup and hence they couldn't put the best 11. Although according to our norm we'll never prepare for the next worldcup but we have lots of youngsters who can be groom for the next 4 years.
Batting although very weak mainly because most of these batsmen never played in Australia or New Zealand before. Sarfraz, Harris looked very good but both of them are very limited batsmen and need some work. Sohaib so far looked like a slogger with no footwork and probably will not play many matches in next 4 years. Shehzad again don't have the technique to be successful in difficult or bouncy conditions but I guess Pakistan should keep him as opener and he should learn to rotate the strike early on. Fawad Alam will play for Pakistan specially after Misbah and Younis. So these are some of the players Pakistan should groom for the next worldcup.

Openers: Ahmed Shahzad, Sarfraz Ahmed, Sami Aslam, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam
Middle order: Harris Sohail, Fawad Alam, Asad Shafique, Azhar Ali, Umar Akmal
Allrounders: Other then Hammad Azam I don't see any other genuine young allrounder
Fast Bowlers: There are too many but Pakistan must take care of Wahab, Junaid, Aamir, Rahat, Zia-ul-Haq, Sadaf Hussain, probably we need to find few right hand genuine fast bowlers
Spinners: Again there are many but Yasir Shah, raza hassan are must for future, probably we need to find another doosra or carom ball bowler.

Captain as always a tricky position in Pakistan team but I guess its the time to have different captains for different formats. Wahab, Sarfraz should be captain and vice captain in ODIs. Misbha should groom either Azhar Ali, Sarfraz as test captain and Shahid should groom Shahzad, Sarfraz or Umar Akmal for T20s. We have lots of talent and good bench strength but we need some system otherwise we'll only see few bowlers but no good batsman.

If everything goes to the plan although pretty rare in Pakistan's case then we will have the best bowling attack for T20 WC 2016. A bowling line consisting of Wahab, Aamir, Junaid, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Hafeez is pretty tough to handle on indian pitches and apart from Ajmal and Junaid rest can bat a bit too and are good fielders.
