Fawad Alam has ten friggin' thousand runs in first-class matches, in only 135 games. He should be in the team. He has got to be in the team. It's a damn shame.

Can somebody explain the selection of Shehzad? He played selfishly in the whole series, putting the pressure on the others.

I agree that Ahmed Shehzad doesn't deserve to play for Pakistan specially with this attitude and without considerable performances. Its sad to see him and Azhar Ali in the preliminary squad, as they are blocking the position for somebody like Harris Sohail and Fawad Alam.
In a perfect world I would want this playing XI for CT17

We will get a good 3-4 overs bowler in Fawad plus he is great to play the anchor role if we loose early wickets. He can force Babar to run hard initially, because its the only issue in Babar right now and we all know that Babar can score more than run a ball in late part of his innings.
Its sad that we don't have power-hitters anymore, so its best to have players who can run fast between the wickets plus know how to rotate the strike and sadly both Ahmed and Azhar have failed to deliver in this regard.

Preference of Umar Akmal over Haris Sohail is another big axe on the foot by Inzy. Seems like, we are not going to get over from Akmal brothers anytime soon..... I can see shehzad playing for his position but I guess an year left him out for no reason other than Waqar Younis report. He deserves chances. I won't ever pick Fawad Alam straight up in CT as well.... Fawad isn't an ODI material

This is a very dumb move by the Pak selectors. Your team has just done wonderfully on this tour of the West Indies, and now you simply bring back two guys that have hurt Pakistan in terms of leadership and getting runs on the board. I'd have thought they would be dropped for good and not be in the team for at least a couple of months. But NO they are back. Umar Akmal has to prove himself in domestic to prove he is good enough to bat at No.6 for Pakistan.

This is a big step backward for Pakistan in their battle to win the Champions Trophy

Its pretty obvious from this selection that Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali will probably open in CT17, which is confirming that we are not going to win many matches unless the other team plays really bad. I can even expect Azhar to score few runs but there is no chance for Ahmed to score in CT against top quality bowlers. We don't have power-hitters and with so many defensive players its almost impossible to get 300 and from the last tour of England it seems that pitches will be flat and only those teams will excel who can score 300 consistently.
