I will be playing as Pakistan in a whole bunch of series in EA Sports Cricket 2005 on PS2.
The first series will be at home v South Africa.
The series will be set in late 2000 after the South African tour of Sri Lanka and before the England tour of Pakistan. The series will consist of a 4 day warm up game, 3 Tests, 3 One Day Internationals.

The South African squad for the tour is as follows: M.Bruyns, A.Bacher, J.Kallis, N.McKenzie, B.Dippenaar, L.Klusener, A.Hall, N.Pothas, S.Pollock (c), P.Strydom, N.Boje, D.Crookes, M.Ntini, D.Terbrugge, N.Hayward.

The South Africans are missing H.Gibbs (suspended), M.Boucher (injured). The Pakistanis will be missing Shoaib Akhtar (injured), Moin Khan (injured). I tried to keep the squads to what they would have been back at that time given those that are in Cricket 2005.

The Pakistani squad for the first test is as follows: Imran Nazir, Salim Elahi, Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Yousuf Youhana, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Atiq-uz-Zaman, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, Kabir Khan, Mohammad Akram.

The Governers XI have won the toss and elected to bat in humid conditions on a dusty pitch.
Both Governers XI openers scored quickly with drives through the covers for boundaries off the quicker men before the cover field was strengthened and the off spin of Crookes was brought into the attack. At drinks the opening pair had put the Governers XI in a strong position with the only chance being an edged drive through the slips by Shadab Kabir off the bowling of Ntini. Ntini was by far the most impressive of the bowlers during the first hour as he created the only chance and bowled the only maiden. Klusener quickly turned to spin and Strydom is warming up to bowl his slow left armers in place of Ntini after drinks.

The score at drinks during the first session on day 1 is:

Governers XI 82-0 off 14 overs.

Faisal Athar 45* off 49 balls with 9 fours.
Shadab Kabir 36* off 35 balls with 4 fours

M.Ntini 7-1-37-0
D.Terbrugge 4-0-32-0
D.Crookes 3-0-12-0

Governers XI v South Africa Lunch Day 1
Faisal Athar passed his 50 off 63 balls, he was then dismissed two balls later for 50 off 65 balls with 10 fours when he swept Strydom to Ntini at square leg. Faisal Iqbal has come in and played some nice leg side shots while left handed Shadab Kabir has become bogged down. Strydom has bowled a very tight spell to slow the run rate in addition to grabbing the first wicket in what may be his only appearance of the tour.

Governers XI 121-1 (28 overs) Extras 5 (5 lb)

Shadab Kabir 43* (65 balls) 4 fours
Faisal Iqbal 23* (38 balls) 5 fours
Faisal Athar c Ntini b Strydom 50 (65 balls) 10 fours

M.Ntini 7-1-37-0
D.Terbrugge 4-0-32-0
D.Crookes 10-0-40-0
P.Strydom 7-3-7-1

Governers XI v South Africa update at drinks during session 2 on day 1

The Governers XI have lost a couple of important wickets within an over of eachother and now have two new batsmen at the crease. Shadab Kabir went for a sweep against Crookes and missed, falling lbw to the off spinners arm ball. Faisal Iqbal fell in the very next over when he top edged a sweep and was caught at slip off the bowling of Strydom. Shadab Kabir had brought up his 50 off 67 balls while Faisal Iqbal took 71 balls to reach the landmark. The three batsman dismissed have all fallen to the sweep shot and none of the batsman have looked comfortable when playing this shot due to the turn and bounce offered by this pitch. Strydom has bowled with impressive accuracy and may force his way into the test team later in the tour.

Governers XI 188-3 off 44 overs.

Hasan Raza 0* (2 balls)
Asim Kamal 0* (1 ball)

Shadab Kabir lbw Crookes 71 (110 balls) 9 fours
Faisal Iqbal c Bruyns b Strydom 55 (86 balls) 8 fours

M.Ntini 7-1-37-0
D.Terbrugge 5-1-32-0
D.Crookes 15-0-56-1
P.Strydom 14-4-36-2

Governers XI v South Africans Tea Day 1

Asim Kamal was caught in the slips when he played a backfoot coverdrive at a ball that was angled across him by Terbrugge. Shoaib Malik came in and looked in good form as he belted a six just over deep backward square legs head off the tiring Klusener. Hasan Raza began to play freely through the offside and was approaching his fifty as the tea break was called. The Governers XI are in a strong position at Tea and look headed for a score of 400+ that will put pressure on a weak looking South African batting lineup.

Governers XI 264-4 (59 overs)

Hasan Raza 40* (50 balls) 7 fours
Shoaib Malik 18* (22 balls) 1 four 1 six

Asim Kamal c Klusener b Terbrugge 10 (21 balls)

M.Ntini 9-1-41-0
D.Terbrugge 7-1-37-1
D.Crookes 16-0-60-1
P.Strydom 14-4-36-2
A.Hall 6-0-29-0

Governers XI v South Africa Stumps Day 1

The Governers XI lost the wicket of Shoaib Malik when he drove an outswinger from Klusener straight to cover. Kamran Akmal got off to a very slow start but Hasan Raza continued to play freely and brought up his century off 126 balls after earlier passing 50 off 64 balls.

Governers XI 378-5 (87 overs)

Hasan Raza 108* (137 balls) 18 fours

Governers XI collapse.

The Governers XI lost their last 5 wickets for 23 runs and only just scraped past 400. Hasan Raza drove Terbrugge to cover, Kamran Akmal edged a slower ball from Klusener to slip, Yasir Arafat played back to a ball from Klusener that kept low and was lbw and Danish Kaneria and Shabbir Ahmed both edged wide half volleys to fourth slip off Terbrugge. Terbrugge finished with good figures and the perservering Klusener came back strongly after a bad start. Ntini struggled after a poor tour of Sri Lanka and looks to have slipped behind Terbrugge in the quest for a test spot.

Governers XI 403 (94.5 overs) Extras 31 (9nb, 22lb)

Faisal Athar c Ntini b Strydom 50 (65 balls) 10 fours 90-1

Governers XI v South Africa Lunch Day 2

South Africa have lost 3 wickets to the new ball. Bacher chipped an on drive to mid on while McKenzie and Bruyns both leg glanced to square leg. Dippenaar and Klusener are looking solid and the pace bowlers are tiring so it should be spin at both ends soon. The ease with which the South African top 3 were dismissed is a bad sign leading in to what could be a tough series for an inexperienced batting line up, it seems much will rest upon the shoulders of Kallis if South Africa are to post competitive totals.

Governers XI 403 all out (94.5 overs)
South Africa 73-3 (19 overs)

B.Dippenaar 21* (31 balls)
L.Klusener 10* (20 balls)

A.Bacher c Hasan Raza b Shabbir Ahmed 4 (6 balls)
N.McKenzie c Danish Kaneria b Fazl-e-Akbar 10 (18 balls)
M.Bruyns c Danish Kaneria b Fazl-e-Akbar 24 (39 balls)

Shabbir Ahmed 5-0-20-1
Fazl-e-Akbar 7-0-30-2
Yasir Arafat 5-0-17-0
Danish Kaneria 2-0-6-0

Governers XI v South Africa at stumps day 2

The Governers Xi dismissed South Africa just before stumps on day 2 to gain a lead of 141, which the openers extended to 156 by the close. Dippenaar and Klusener repaired the early damage with a century partnership before Klusener skied a catch to cover after striking 5 sixes in that region off the spinners. Dippenaar holed out to mid on with the first lofted shot of a patient innings, Hall and Pothas clipped to square leg, Crookes was bowled when he played down the wrong line to a flighted ball, Ntini popped up an edge to silly point and South Africa were in grave danger of following on. Terbrugge the number 11 stood firm against all the bowlers could throw at him and the follow on was avoided before Strydom lobbed a catch to short midwicket. Klusener reached his 50 from 89 balls while Dippenaar took 105 balls to reach the landmark.

Ive decided to quit this story because i was playing it on Hard level and i had a practice game on a Normal pitch and found it almost impossible to score any runs. Im going to start a new story on Medium level so i can play on a variety of pitches. Im sorry to add to the evergrowing list of threads that go nowhere but it must be done.
