100%. Abrar is highly regarded. Sajid and Noman not so much.
He would have played instead of Shahzad in the first test and Hamza/Jamal in the second. I’m not sure if he plays better than any of those bowlers had he been selected.

That is true, fair enough. But saying he wouldn't have been selected is very unlikely. He would have played instead of Shahzad in the first test and Hamza/Jamal in the second. I’m not sure if he plays better than any of those bowlers had he been selected.
Who are these mythical first choice players Pakistan are missing that I keep hearing everywhere? Only ones I can think of are Naseem and Abrar. Given that they’ve opted to go for Salman as the sole part time spinner on two occasions and the newbies haven’t looked out of place when they’ve played would Abrar have played a test anyway?
Let it go, 1 post was more than enoughHow could ball hit the wrist band and fore arm at the same time?? There was no doubt it hit Rizwan on forearm which was visible to every one as there was a white mark on Rizwans Arm however for the ball to take the wrist band on the way to Rizwans Forearm either the wrist band and forearm ( the mark that was visible on Rizwans Arm) had to be in the same line or the ball had to change its path to first take the wrist band and then hit Rizwans forearm which didn’t happen. The trajectory of the ball didn’t change at all ..
This is pathetic and I thought below you...but tbh most ahem posters end up like you. You odn't like me calling out 20/21 in the other thread so you're acting like Pakistan isn't missing first choice players.
Would Abrar play?? Do you know anything about Pakistan cricket????
Not to mention, Noman being their most experience cricketer and he also got injured. Then missing both Naseem and Haris, for varying reasons.
Heck, the team had two test debuts in the first test, not only that, one of those guys had never even played international cricket before.
This not to even start on the fact that someone like Shehzad or Jamal weren't even first pick back ups, the fast bowlers the PCB have been grooming are Naseem, Ihsanullah and Hasnain (probably a couple of others also) and they're all unavailable also.
This isn't just a second string pick, it's a 3rd or 4th string pick
Jeez you lot make it too easy for me.
The batting however has some old heads in Shan, Babar, Rizwan and Imam but the quality is lacking...the fact that Pakistan have been competitive for about 6 of the 10 days currently played shows how these cricketers have played well beyond their means...not that this is the best XI Pakistan could have picked.

I actually thought, from what I saw, Pakistan bowled very well this test. Mir Hamza is a solid experienced pro, Hasan Ali is experienced even if he doesn't set the world alight and Aamer bowls a few jaffers every now and then. The fielding cost them the match at the end of the day.Let me get this straight; the backups to the first choice attack are Ihsanullah and Hasnain who have a combined experience of fourteen FC games between them with Ihsanullah’s experience being limited to one season of FC cricket (admittedly impressive at an average of 28 but while being one of the most expensive bowlers in the season) and Hasnain an average of 49.
I openly admit to not knowing anything about Pakistani cricket especially in domestic cricket but I do know that if these two are unironically considered to be next in line to Shaheen and Naseem if they were unavailable (since you’re calling Jamal a fourth string pick) then that’s a serious failure in producing decent standard FC bowlers.
It’s also funny that you’ve complimented this Pakistani side for performing so well after missing two first team players (which they deserve) who are a pacer and a spinner whilst debuting two new players and you’re chastising the Indian team in the other thread who are missing… a pacer and a spinner (an all-round version to boot!) whilst debuting one new player. Seems like you’ve got your biases well screwed on.

Pace is pace. Rauf would've been my pick and seemingly was who Pakistan wanted too.I’m not disagreeing with that at all which is why I’m bemused as to why a bloke who averages close to fifty is being considered as the backup over the domestic veteran who has been impressive for many years.

As well as Mir and Hasan bowled I think the Aussies would rather face them than Ihsanullah and Hasnain who could bowl 90ish. They really struggled against Mark Wood in both of the last Ashes series. I'd certainly say there's room for one wild card pacer in the side.
Aussie pitches are definitely sportier these days so I don't think out and out pace is necessary. Aamer has provided that to an extent anyway.I’ve got to disagree there since Woody can bowl accurately and can be relied on to last in a test. I have no faith in Rauf doing that given what happened in his debut and there’s no way you can convince me that Hasnain bowling waywardly is of any use. He has an Ebadot like spell in him but that’ll come at the cost of being actively harmful to the team’s own bowling.
Besides these pitches have been quite helpful for swing and seam in contrast to the usual Aussie pitches that are only conducive to bounce…. wait a second… you’ve been infected by the ‘pace is pace yaar’ virus haven’t you?
