Pakistan Tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe - April / May 2021

Next ODI Series is in England
Come on boys

I don't know why people call him a bad coach under his coaching Faheem and Rizwan became good players otherwise they were not good players before he came and he was a legendary captain we can never get a player like Misbah.
Yeah true. Rizwan was constantly performing in domestics, but Misbah took the bold call of completely removing Sarfaraz and bringing Rizwan in. Misbah also gave us the likes of Azhar Ali as a captain. And he started captaining the team after the horrors of 2010. As a coach, the thing I like the most is that he has developed bench strength. As much as I liked Mickey, he only used 15-20 players whom he'd keep reusing. Misbah has improved the backups and provided them chances0

Mickey never produced a new all rounder instead of Shadab under Mickey's coaching Faheem rarely used to perform now he is our main player same with Asif Ali today he isn't performing but soon he will be one of our main power hitters.

It was on the cards. The Pakistanis were
long due of some success for a long time. Credits to Babar Azam for leading this young side being a youngster himself. Pakistan would soon be back to its peak if they keep their head in the right place and don't fall for some unnecessary adjectives of unpredictability.

He started off badly as a coach, but slowly improving.

We should look for a whitewash in the T20Is against this weaker SA side. Team will be high on confidence.

Good win for Pakistan. You can't blame them if SA cricket is in tatters and making 7-8 changes. Perhaps, the biggest positive is that PAK can chase some sort of total now instead of having panic attacks.

What I will suggest is that they try to make a sure shot 11 first and then look for depth. There is no reason to tinker when you have set options.

As far as these rankings and stats are concerned? Pretty meaningless. Just like the ICC.

What a journey! I still remember his interview in 2017 when he said that he wants to be the No.1 ODI batsman, and he is about to fulfill his dream now. Hard work and patience are never wasted! He will also be the first Pakistani since M.Yousuf to top the ODI batting charts.

1st Pakistani player to become no.1 ODI batsmen since 2003

I don't see why using a set amount of 15-20 players is a bad thing. Every series that Pakistan play, there's always at least five new guys in the squad. It's great that they have great depth and talent, but they need to stick to a solid XI or narrow that large player pool down to strengthen that group of 15 with WC's to come. If you look at the likes of England, they have consistently played the same guys in their LO teams for the past 4-5 years. Why did they win the WC and become No 1 in the world? They stuck to the same group of players and entrusted them to deliver them results. Like LiveLoveABD said, there's no need to tinker around when you've got the options around, and the Pak definitely have that. They seem so keen on trying as many as players as possible that it's difficult for them to have an unchanged XI across series. They're at that stage where they can move to have a solid XI and back them to build towards the WC.

I think Faheem has gained a lot of confidence from Misbah's backing, where Mickey somewhat undermined Faheem's batting abilities and his potential to bat at 7 rather than below that.

Agreed 100%! My point was that he developed no backups. Just from the 2019 World Cup's squad, we had no backup for the likes of Fakhar, Imad, Sarfaraz, Haris, Amir, Shadab etc.

Now the same players can't be complacent. Fakhar has Haider and Sharjeel waiting for his failure. Sarfaraz lost his place to Rizwan already. Amir tried trash-talking the management and nobody cared, because they had backups. We don't even feel the need for Amir anymore. Shadab now has Qadir going neck-to-neck with him. Same for Imad Wasim and Nawaz, and many more.

Mickey had one pool and he was not ready to experiment or look beyond them. That is what hurt Pakistan.

I am waiting to see both Sharjeel and Fakhar opening together both are in great form and both can trouble African bowlers.
