Pakistan tour of West Indies Apr/May 2011

Hahahahahaha :lol

Pakistan 2 for 2 chasing 219. This is insane.

----------

2 for 3 and it's awesome. This is what I wanted

They drop a catch. Simple one come on Darren, this is not expected from you. Should have been easily 4 wickets down. Rampaul is bowlng beautifully

This is Windies at their very best , reminds me of Sabina Park February 2009 against England .

140 for 6 with 79 more to get I feel it's going on West Indies way.

I hope Sammy's captaincy now comes out good and changes bowlers well enough to get a win

Sammy really stepped up when it seemed like West Indies had lost the control. Many earlier had questioned his inclusion in the team, they have been answered now.

Great performance from the West Indies team. Sammy led from the front, excellent stuff from the captain. :clap

Awesome victory. Some members were wishing West Indies winning over India but what about this? Sammy bowled well and watched this last 2 days and I am glad i did.

Awesome to see Test matches at its best

I will be one of the first to say I don't agree with Sammy as captain, but he bowled brilliantly in both innings on a tough pitch for batting. His medium pace was always going to allow the ball to move about after pitching.

I'm still very critical of the selection of the squad, but if they address that in the next test, it should be something to look forward to.

Love T20 cricket, but nothing beats a good, close test match like this one. Too many flat tracks and drawn tests. Let's keep preparing pitches that have batsmen playing well for their runs.

Look i hope people dont get too hyped up by Sammy's performance here. Yes he bowled well to take 5, but he got great assistance from a pitch that was hard for batting all test & it coincidentally aided Sammy's style of bowling. All he had to do was bowl straight & he executed that well.

He still does not merit a place in the side over Taylor, DW Bravo or Edwards.

Overall though as i always say. Windies have their best combination of youth, experience & quality depth for the first time since the mid 1990s when Richie Richardson was captain. Once Gayle, DW Bravo, Barath, Taylor, Edwards returns - Windies could definitely beat India @ home in tests.

I agree, Sammy isn't a great choice for captain but the way he performed in this match should be appreciated. He knew that he hasn't done justice to the West Indies team as a captain and he was certainly under pressure but he performed brilliantly but still he is not the ideal person to captain West Indies side.

Sammy has always been one to bowl brilliantly when he either gets help from the pitch or from the overhead conditions. He won't be good on a bouncy pitch in hot weather, he just won't have the pace or movement to help him out.

But like it or not, he is the captain and he has led his team to victory. He will play in the next match, but I suspect his bowling won't be all that good. On a flatter wicket they need another seamer.

I'll be honest. Dwayne Bravo has done nothing over the past year or so to merit a consistent place in the test team. Yes he adds excellent fielding, but he has not been taking wickets with his bowling. And 20-odd runs isn't enough for a man who's supposed to be a top all-rounder. Limited overs, yes, I will say he deserves a spot. But not tests at the moment.

Gayle definitely deserves a spot, and after Devon Smith proved himself to be Hafeez's walking wicket in this match once again, I'd really love for Gayle to return. Realistically it won't happen, but for the Indian tour I think he should definitely have a place in the team.

Bishoo is good, but I haven't seen him bowl a googly yet. Does he have one? He was also reluctant to go around the wicket and use the rough outside leg stump. But he's still young and he will learn and mature with time. And leggies are rare in world cricket nowadays.

If I was a selector, this is my team for the next test (all things considered and keeping the IPL in mind and whatnot):

Lendl Simmons - Great form and he's grown as a batsman by leaps and bounds.

Darren Bravo - I think he's talented enough to open the batting and since Smith kept getting out early he was basically an opener anyways.

Ramnaresh Sarwan - I wanted to see him bowl a bit in this match, but in the end it didn't matter too much. He's still not at his best batting form but he'll get there.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul - Enough said.

Brendan Nash - He has been in wicked form in the first class competition this year, and I can see him playing a big innings in the next match.

Carlton Baugh - At the moment he's probably the best we have. Ramdin is a better pure keeper but he's been given too many chances. Baugh isn't shabby behind the stumps and once he keeps himself in check mentally, he can do well.

Ravi Rampaul - In some of the best form of his life.

Darren Sammy - I'm putting him lower down the order since I don't think his batting form is good recently. But he has to play.

Kemar Roach - I think he's out of touch a little but he bowled well in the second innings. He needs to learn how to adapt to the pitch conditions, but the only way that happens is by playing.

Davendra Bishoo - He really needs to learn the googly though.

Fidel Edwards - I think it will take him a while to get back into form at the international level, but his slinging action gets some wicked reverse from about 40 overs.

Seriously though, all they will do is drop Smith for Samuels and possibly consider Edwards for Roach.

For the India series, I'd expect Taylor to give Edwards or Roach competition for a spot. Gayle would be back and I think he absolutely has to play. His offspin will be more than handy as well. Bravo and Pollard for the limited overs, and that really looks like a sweet lineup there.

There is so much more I can say about other players that might be on the fringe of the team, but I've typed enough for now.
