Pakistani Tour of New Zealand, Dec-Feb 2010/11

We might as well, it's the last matches before the WC

It's not so much about changing a winning side as it is about changing an untested side. I think that screws up the plans even more. I mean it's funny to think Nathan McCullum and Scott Styris actually played that game. So when you go to give some guy a go, you first have to think about all the guys who didn't get one in the first place because the opponent was so poor last game. When the opposition is actually good, you don't want to have lost balance because you didn't previously need to play terribly well to win.

Well I can't imagine who they would replace, especially because as you said, some didn't really get to have a go in the last match. If anyone, it would probably be Guptill because he's been in reasonably good form, while Ryder wasn't too great in the tests

We're already pretty much settled, the only position I can think of is Bennett/Mills.
I doubt How, Williamson or Woodcock will play in any of the important matches, unless of injury.

I think breaking the losing cycle was good, now experiment with the randoms for the next 2/3 games, then play our number one line-up for the final 2/3.

(Words of Kamran Abbasi Cricket Writer) The PCB has groomed a captain for this World Cup. His name is Shahid Afridi. He might have limitations, but, with senior colleagues around him, those can be overcome. The PCB needs to stop being precious about its own ego and start allowing Pakistan's World Cup campaign to take shape. The longer any doubt lingers over leadership, the harder it will be for the team to gather any momentum before this year's biggest tournament.

Fully agree with him.

For the newzelanders, I would suggest them to play a rookie against Pakistan or a player who hasn't perform for years, because it would be his best chance to get his form back against Pakistan. Its unfortunate for us but its mostly true.

Yeah i was rating Pakistan's bowling quite high but after watching them in this series so far in limited overs matches,i am quite disappointed

According to Cricinfo it is Nathan McCullum dropping out of the side for How. I suppose on a pitch that is normally terrible for batting on, strengthening the batting isn't a bad idea. And I think it is normally suited more for the pace bowlers rather than the spinners. But McCullum didn't get a chance to bowl in the last match so he hasn't really done much this series.

Gonna have to follow this match on Cricinfo from work :)

11am start, well that's inconvenient. I wish I was able to go to the match today, I've never been to a game in Queenstown.

Pakistan have dropped Akhtar, Asad Shafiq, and Abdur Rehman.

In come Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Gul, and Wahab Riaz.

Kamran will come down the order and Shehzad will open.

But McCullum didn't get a chance to bowl in the last match so he hasn't really done much this series.

He's pretty much a certainty to play in the World Cup XI, so it doesn't really matter.
I assume he'll get some game time later in the series, when we settle on a line-up.

Pakistan have dropped Akhtar, Asad Shafiq, and Abdur Rehman.

It's funny how Afridi said they were all being rested at the toss, instead of saying they've been dropped.

THERE'S PLAY?? Wow, I was talking to someone who left Qtown this morning and they said no chance. I believed him considering this has been Otago's worst summer in ages.

Wtf is Franklin bowling again?? He should be banned from bowling, he is just so atrocious. He better not be bowling in the world cup.

You might as well get used to it, apparently they want at least 5 overs out of him a game at WC.
