Pakistani Tour of New Zealand, Dec-Feb 2010/11

Gups has started well, hitting the ball nicely and keeping NZ on top of the run rate while Taylor gets himself set. How looked good in his short stay.

Just as you were starting to think NZ were comfortably on target...

Still, Pakistan will probably need to choke this down with a bit of spin and they may not have an advantage over NZ in that area, whereas they'd usually have one more spinner.

Looking at things so far they could have used a frontline spinner over a seamer but still have Hafeez and Afridi who are both handy ODI spinners.

Great fielding from Umar Akmal. Thats what good fielding can do. Its pretty much the match for Pakistan.

Kiwis have given up the chase here :yes.

I am just checking out the scorecard: Pakistan scored 120 runs in the final 10 overs. Afridi got his fifty of just 19 balls. Only bad thing is that Afridi went out in the final over, otherwhile Pakistan would have reached 300 runs.

Spinners didn't have much impact in this match.

Good effort by our team here. I think we should bring in Abdul Rehman or Ajmal for the next game in place of Sohail Tanveer.

Cricinfo is mentioning it's a big win, but Pakistan won only by 43 runs.

Pakistan should try to play a match with two spinners. And also a match without spinners. They could also try opening with Abdul Razzaq, because he is being wasted as a number 8.

Woodcock was efficient and economical.

I don't really care that we lost since we're rotating players around. Guptill looked in good form though.

The guy at the end was the man, casually catching the ball, before walking out.

Ok I just got home and haven't seen any of the game but wtf was up with our death bowling?? Afridi 60 off 25  Not really good enough, just read through the cricinfo commentary and there seemed to be heaps of full tosses, which you can't afford to bowl at the death. I'm dead serious when I say this that we should maybe look to play all of Vettori, Woodcock and McCullum in the world cup. Our seamers got absolutely hammered in India last time. IIRC the last game of that ODI series in India we bowled ok and McCullum opened with Vettori??

I think he was about to throw it back, but his son kind of pulled his arm back and must of said something to him, and then you just see them leave.

Rare knock from Afridi that one. Glad that he still can play such.
