Pakistan lose early wickets, but Inzi and Malik take control

Pakistan need 281 to win the match.

Pakistan started off terribly losing 3 wickets after scoring just 11 runs, all thanks to some more great bowling from Gough. First to go was Younis Khan, who got runout trying to score his first runs. Just a few balls later, Imran Nazir edged one off of Gough in an attempt to play a straight drive and sent the ball flying fast into Wharf's hands. Next, Kamran Akmal came in and hit a four through the covers on his very first ball and then got out lbw on the next one after misjudging a delivery by Gough.

With Shoaib Malik and the captain Inzamam-ul-Haq on the field, things finally calmed down a bit for Pakistan. Both batsmen played cautiously until the seventh over when Wharf bowled his first over and got hit 19 runs. This gave the Pakistani batsmen a huge boost and it kept them going for the next few overs.

Where at one point Pakistan needed a RR of 9.5, Inzi's relentless batting brought it down to 5.5. Malik, inspired by his captain, started playing aggressively as well and took Pakistan's runrate past 7. Inzamam reached his first half-century of the series in just 30 balls!!! And it was all thanks to Wharf who gave up 51 runs in just 4 overs. At drinks break Pakistan were already at 105/3. Here are the stats from the chase so far:

Summary: Pakistan 105/3 (14 overs)
Inzamam-ul-Haq 51*(31) | Shoaib Malik 37*(40) | D. Gough 2/31

A roller coaster ride for the fans

After the drinks break, Inzi and Malik went back to their thrashing and kept pilings runs up getting Pakistan in a very comfortable position. By the time 19 overs had passed by, Pakistan were already at 140 runs. Vaughan's plan of using spinners on and off finally produced results when Inzi hit a lazy shot off of Giles that allowed Trescothick to take a diving catch, ending a 131 run partnership. Inzamam scored 76 runs off of 50 balls.

After Inzi's dismissal, things got a bit slower and better for England. Just in the next over Flintoff was finally able to get through Malik, bowling him out for 49.

With Afridi and Youhana on the crease, Pakistan were still looking like favorites to win the match, but that didn't last long thanks to Giles and Pieterson. First, Shahid Afridi tried a late cut off of Pieterson that edged off his bat and settled into Trescothick's hands very easily. Then, after putting up a quick 27 runs, Youhana got bowled by Giles while attempting another boundary.

With Youhana gone, Pakistan were now 188/7 and with Naved-ul-Hasan and Mohammed Sami batting, England were now expected to win. But so far these tail-enders have put up quite a bit of resistance against English spinners. After 37 overs Pakistan are 220/7. They need 61 runs to win with only three wickets remaining in 13 overs. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but with the tail-enders there, nothing's for sure. Here are the stats so far:

Summary: Pakistan 220/7 (37 overs)
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan 30*(50) | Mohammad Sami 13*(16) | D. Gough 2/39

61 off 13 overs with the tail enders??? This should be a close match!!! But I bet on England.

Naved-ul-Hasan troubles English bowlers

After losing four important wickets in a matter of a few overs, it was upto Naved-Ul-Hasan and Sami to get Pakistan through, which exactly what they did. Realizing how dangerous spinners had been throughout this game, the batsmen decided to play it safe and started playing very defensively, scoring runs on only the bad balls. But thanks to the quick scoring by the Inzi-Malik partnership, the runrate never dropped too low.

English were frustratingly trying hard to get wickets but failed to do so. With 5 overs left in the match, Pakistan needed 21 runs to win. After a good over by Flintoff, Gough got hit for 10 runs by Naved in one over sealing the win for Pakistan. They were able to reach their target with 11 balls left and 3 wickets to go.

PAKISTAN WIN THE SERIES 2-1!!!!

I'll post details tomorrow, gotta goto work now.

Pakistan win the match by three wickets

Thank you champ.

Pakistan won the match thanks to a slow seventh wicket partnership between Sami and Naved-ul-Hasan. The latter proved to be a good replacement for the out-of-form Amir, who proved to be the backbone of the team in the W. Indies tour. Naved-ul-Hasan scored 63 runs and along with Sami, who had his second 40+ inning back-to-back, steered Pakistan to a comfortable victory over the English.

Inzamam-ul-Haq was declared Man-of-the-Match for his 76 runs in 50 balls that put Pakistan on top. Here are the stats from the inning:

Man of the Series:

Marcus Trescothick for his contributions in all three matches.

See,I told you 280 was a good score :D

Even though England lost with that score ,it was close.

I am glad people enjoyed this match. Its too bad that I was busy, or else I would have gone over by over with you guys in this match. Hopefully the test series will have such great performances from both sides.

I will most likely use tutsi's beta 5 for this series.

The Champ said:
I think u can use tutsi latest patch if u can wait for its release, or better use boss latest patch
I think I might end up trying different patches for every match. Its a three test series.

Anyhoo, I'll be getting started soon.
