Pane2ar Draft: Return of the Rabbits

Unlucky Dip Player #61: :pak: :wk: Asma Farzand

Nominated by: @Yash.
Received by: @Aislabie

Surprisingly, Yash was the only one amongst us to nominate a female player for the Unlucky Dip. I am extremely grateful, however, to receive a wicket-keeper for my team.

Aislabie's XI so far:
7. :pak: :ar: Shadab Khan
8. :ind: :bat: Rajagopalan Shyamsunder
9. :aus: :bwl: Dave Gilbert
10. :eng: :bat: Charles Coventry
11. :pak: :wk: Asma Farzand

Unlucky Dip Player #62: :pak: :bwl: Usman Khan Shinwari

Nominated by
: @CerealKiller
Received by: @Neptune

One of the most impressive teenage swing bowlers I've ever seen, I was simultaneously surprised to find that Shinwari had played a Test match, and surprised that he hadn't played a dozen Test matches. I assume he's another one in the long line of Pakistan seamers who've been bowled into the ground before their bodies were ready.

Neptune's XI so far:
:eng: :bat: John Morris
:sri: :ar: Chamika Karunaratne
:ind: :bwl: Iqbal Siddiqui
:pak: :bwl: Usman Khan Shinwari
:pak: :bwl: Tabish Khan
:aus: :bwl: Pud Thurlow

Unlucky Dip Player #63: :ind: :wk: Khershed Meherhomji

Nominated by
: @Yash.
Received by: @Aravind.

Now this is a tricky one. A nice specialist wicket-keeper is usually a very helpful kind of player to pull in an Unlucky Dip, but Aravind already has one of those. It means that Meherhomji probably ends up playing as a specialist batter instead.

Aravind's XI so far:
:aus: :bat: Roy Park
:pak: :ar: Abdul Hafeez Kardar
:ind: :wk: Khershed Meherhomji
:aus: :bat: Roland Pope
:ind: :bwl: Yograj Singh
:nzf: :wk: Trevor McMahon

Unlucky Dip Player #62: :pak: :bwl:Usman Khan Shinwari

Unlucky Dip Player #64: :nzf: :bwl: Doug Freeman

Nominated by: @ahmedleo414
Received by: @Yash.

New Zealand's schoolboy leggie was only 18 years old when he played his two Test matches against England. He got absolutely met by Wally Hammond and Herbert Sutcliffe, and played only one more first-class game before emigrating to Fiji to work in the sugar industry - he was the manager of the famous touring team with IL Bula.

Yash's XI so far:
:ind: :bat: Vikram Rathour
:saf: :ar: Jacques Kallis
:wi: :bat: Ricardo Powell
:eng: :bwl: Josh Hull
:nzf: :bwl: Doug Freeman

Unlucky Dip Player #65: :sri: :bwl: Roger Wijesuriya
1727643956615.png
Nominated by: @ddrap14
Received by: @Paranoid Kendroid

Roger Wijesuriya bowled 97.4 overs in Test cricket, and was rewarded with only one Test cricket. I wish I had that kind of resilience, and I think he should be admired for it.

Kendroid's XI so far:
:wi: :bat: Jeremy Solozano
:ind: :wk: Vijay Rajindernath
:sri: :bwl: Roger Wijesuriya
:eng: :bwl: Simon Kerrigan
:saf: :bwl: Billy Frank

Unlucky Dip Player #66: :ind: :ar: Aashish Kapoor
1727644456487.png
Nominated by: @Aravind.
Received by: @Yash.

Aashish Kapoor was a top-quality stock bowler and a plucky batter: the sort of player who would have played 40 Tests for England with a bowling average of 43, but appeared only four times for India.

Yash's XI so far:
:ind: :bat: Vikram Rathour
:saf: :ar: Jacques Kallis
:wi: :bat: Ricardo Powell
:ind: :ar: Aashish Kapoor
:eng: :bwl: Josh Hull
:nzf: :bwl: Doug Freeman

Unlucky Dip Player #67: :ban: :bwl: Rubel Hossain
1727644548685.png

Nominated by: @Perfect Square
Received by: @Paranoid Kendroid

Rubel was just an awful red ball bowler, but he was the fastest in Bangladesh. And pace is pace, yaar. Yaar? (Good one-day bowler though)

Kendroid's XI so far:
:wi: :bat: Jeremy Solozano
:ind: :wk: Vijay Rajindernath
:sri: :bwl: Roger Wijesuriya
:eng: :bwl: Simon Kerrigan
:ban: :bwl: Rubel Hossain
:saf: :bwl: Billy Frank

Unlucky Dip Player #68: :saf: :bat: Percy Twentyman-Jones
1727645133617.png
Nominated by: @ahmedleo414
Received by: @Aislabie

Percy Twentyman-Jones' name was far better than his batting. But it's possible that cricket wasn't even his best or second-best sport: he was also a football international and an accomplished rugby union player.

Aislabie's XI so far:
6. :pak: :ar: Shadab Khan
7. :saf: :bat: Percy Twentyman-Jones
8. :ind: :bat: Rajagopalan Shyamsunder
9. :aus: :bwl: Dave Gilbert
10. :eng: :bat: Charles Coventry
11. :pak: :wk: Asma Farzand

Unlucky Dip Player #69: :nzf: :ar: Sonny Moloney
1727645917600.png
Nominated by: @Supreme General
Received by: @ahmedleo414

An excellent cricketer for Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and New Zealand, Sonny Moloney died at the horribly young age of 32 while a prisoner of war in 1943. What a waste of life.

Ahmedleo's XI so far:
:nzf: :ar: Sonny Moloney
:afg: :ar: Karim Janat
:nzf: :bwl: Brooke Walker
:eng: :bwl: Ian Salisbury
:aus: :bat: Harry Musgrove

Unlucky Dip Player #70: :ban: :bat: Akram Khan
1727646395836.png
Nominated by: @Supreme General
Received by: @ahmedleo414

Akram Khan was a hero in the early days of Bangladeshi cricket: his numbers aren't much to look at, but his legacy is massive.

Ahmedleo's XI so far:
:nzf: :ar: Sonny Moloney
:ban: :bat: Akram Khan
:afg: :ar: Karim Janat
:nzf: :bwl: Brooke Walker
:eng: :bwl: Ian Salisbury
:aus: :bat: Harry Musgrove

Unlucky Dip Player #71: :zim: :bat: Kevin Kasuza
1727646534948.png

Nominated by
: @icyman
Received by: @CerealKiller

A fighting opening batter, Kevin Kasuza overcame two concussions and his own limitations to become a fixture at the top of the Zimbabwean order in Test cricket. It's not always pretty, but he always does a job for his team.

CerealKiller's XI so far:
:zim: :bat: Kevin Kasuza
:zim: :ar: Gary Crocker
:zim: :bwl: Ujesh Ranchod
:ban: :bwl: Tapash Baisya
:eng: :x: Emile McMaster

Unlucky Dip Player #72: :saf: :bwl: Tshepo Moreki
1727646964053.png
Nominated by: @Yash.
Received by: @Perfect Square

Tshepo Moreki made his Test debut in one of the weirdest recent Test series, when South Africa sent out a squad of people who couldn't wangle SA20 contracts to go out and take on New Zealand. Those games were two of only three that New Zealand have won in this cycle.

Perfect Square's XI so far:
:ind: :bat: Devang Gandhi
:aus: :bat: Tom Groube
:saf: :bwl: Tshepo Moreki
:ind: :bwl: Vivek Razdan

Unlucky Dip Player #73: :zim: :bat: Glen Bruk-Jackson
1727647229135.png
Nominated by: RESERVE PLAYER
Received by: @Perfect Square

For one season in his career, Glen Bruk-Jackson captured lightning in a bottle to such an extent that it propelled him into the Zimbabwean Test team. For the rest of his career, he did very little if anything of note, but no-one could take that Test cap away. This was the only Google Images result for him that even seemed like it could be right, and I have a feeling it's still wrong.

Perfect Square's XI so far:
:ind: :bat: Devang Gandhi
:zim: :bat: Glen Bruk-Jackson
:aus: :bat: Tom Groube
:saf: :bwl: Tshepo Moreki
:ind: :bwl: Vivek Razdan

Unlucky Dip Player #74: :ban: :wk: Mohammad Salim
1727647539979.png
Nominated by: RESERVE PLAYER
Received by: @icyman

Finally, after a long old time, Icyman receives his fourth of six players. Normally, a keeper like Salim would be a really good pick, but much like Aravind, Icyman already has one and thus Salim will likely play as a specialist batter.

Icyman's XI so far:
:wi: :ar: Garry Sobers
:ban: :wk: Mohammad Salim
:zim: :bwl: Blessing Mahwire
:nzf: :wk: Barry Milburn
