If their downloads are great then people will remember them. It is why you can nominate people, so that threads like that don't get forgotten. Besides which, their hard work in those months could be rewarded by one of the things they make in that time being nominated for a download of the month.

But there might be new downloaders just before the awards that people think are better cus they haven't used the other guys downloads.

IMO I just dont think a yearly award is enough. This gives a chance for most patch makers to be given recgonisition if the Download thread of the month goes ahead.

Just to clarify my position.



To me there are many issues in saying someone's whole thread is the best, and if you do that on a per month basis, you would get the same people winning over and over again.

However by selecting the best download created in a month you are rewarding effort and quality. If someone doesn't release anything in a particular month they can't win, so an incentive is provided to stay active and release good things.

By not focusing on the longer term you provide a more level playing field.

Matt I agree with you, they are valid points so we should have a best "download of the month" and the "panel" should vote according to the amount of effort put in. This means you won't be seeing the same person win, it will be the potential they have.

I'll say its good than we are rewarding the people but i have one more idea. We should give same task to all the download makers and than have a poll

yes i actually agree with you Matt about the downloads instead of whole thread, i'd be happy with download of the month. I still think having a user title of "download of the month" is very important to it to make them recognized throughout the planet cricket community

I meant Staff should give same task to all the download makers. The one who will do the task better should win. Suppose staff will give a task to make a gameplay patch. We will put all the names who will do this in a poll and the highest votes reciever will win.

And as I keep saying I have no opposition to a monthly award, but a monthly 'best download thread' as such wouldn't work. Picking from specific downloads produced within a month prevents many issues.

No. Unlike with the graphics threads, download makers seem to specialise in a certain area of downloads. For example saying, make this face, would be to the detriment of a good bat maker. Obviously comparison might be easier, but the purpose isn't served as well.

well everyone has their own specialty, you and your faces, if you ask for gameplay and tutsi decided to enter, he would wreck the competion. bats you have prakastic and burma. Etc, etc, you can't really get anything that would give a fair contest to everyone.

Even a public vote would be great. As long as it kicks off.

Matt i had another good idea, there should be a stickied thread which has a list of what the best download was each month. which has the voting poll in it.

yeah but what would you say gives a good fair spread to what everyone specializes in. Anything to do with graphics such as stadium updates we have actual professionals like prakastic who would kill the competition. Faces we have you maddy, and arko. You get what i mean

I know but my idea will help all the download makers to be perfect in everything. About faces i think it is the easiest job and i don't think so faces matter in the game. I always hate making faces but i like making other things like kits,patches, etc.

Ok, fair enough. Download of the month is also a fair go. But another point what about the face makers etc, they wouldn't get as many votes as say a game patch probably.
