England thrash Zimbabwe
England have thrashed Zimbabwe by 247 runs in their warm up match in Lisbon. On an even wicket, captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat first- with new players Mierosoft and DJ Ager starring by making centuries.
Andrew Strauss (30), Paul Collingwood (26) and Kevin Pietersen (44*) supported them as Mierosoft (113) and DJ Ager (109*) took control in Portugal.
When it came to bowling, James Anderson (4/19) and Andrew Flintoff (2/27) blasted through the Zimbabwean batting order with Paul Collingwood (1/32) and Jamie Dalrymple (1/6) mopping up.
Overall, it was a thoroughly convincing performance with Mierosoft emerging as man of the match.
"I am very pleased. This match came up very suddenly and we have shown a lot of professionalism against Zimababwe," said England coach Lee Payne.
With their debuts now over, England can look ahead to the PCC Champions Trophy with confidence.
