Being on the organizational side of things here has definitely changed my outlook. I think one uncontestable fact is that the season is way too long. In its planned stage, there are 15 rounds of play, meaning 15 weeks. That's the better part of 4 months. 10 rounds should suffice, in my opinion.

Cricsim is essentially being run by a combination of staff that adds up to 1 person. I was free this summer hence I could dedicate a few hours every week. That's just not the case now that I have a full-time job. treva has done a brilliant job to step in and sim the majority of the season. Dean's absence has had an effect, but from what I understand, they are due to extenuating circumstances and not something we can really change.

Please do keep the thoughts coming in and let's hope we can finish this season off!

I basically suggest to take off teams with country names.
Better make it forum names mike AC09 Legends, C2K7 Cheetah's, Story Forum Sizzlers, etc etc.. as it makes a new feel to PCCL.
Its PCCL but not ICL.
And even see that mid season transfers are allowed and even introduce new trophies like Thirty's challlenge, 4 Fourty and even if possible, TTests like simmimg two matches with same line up at a time and making them present like 25 over two inning games. (Especially while PCPL is going on) as people tend to see this type of format when even a T20 match is going on.
For example, match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Code:
MUMBAI INDIANS VS KOLKATA RIDERS at Mumbai
25 overs match

KOLKATA RIDERS WON THE TOSS AND ELECTED TO BAT FIRST

You're pretty insufferable aren't you?

CricSim is pretty much one of the busiest (sometimes) forum on PlanetCricket, or has been between game cycles. Shorter season, more variety such as International.

Simbazz added 1 Minutes and 26 Seconds later...

Not that I need to go into detail, or really say anything but I needed to get it started and was cleared to do so by Dean. The PCPL is nothing to do with this topic. We are our own league.
I'm not doubting you have any wrong intentions Simon, but my point is that the time that users set to dedicate towards the Cricsim part is essentially divided into half with the 2 leagues running simultaneously (well one is still being organized). It isn't a big issue at all, and I could be wrong. I'm just giving my opinion on it.

Although I still reiterate that the biggest problem is the matches being posted late and inconsistently; while yes I understand we have the limitations but if we're searching for the reason, then I think we have to look no further than that.

Bring it all into one competition. We have the same people from PCCL as in the PCPL and so new active members miss out while people who haven't logged in for months stay in the teams.

Just have the PCCL and run all three competitions here. Have a FC, List A (both with the Cricksim) and T20 (with KI's sim), maybe expand the number of teams to 8 or sort through all the inactive members (there are a lot) and don't have Internationals taking up spots in teams..

Keeps it simple without having one comp start up (PCPL) and kill peoples interest in the other one (PCCL) as it heads towards the finals.. and less hassles without bidding on dead people who will end up dominating the comp when active members could be taking up those spots..

Final request.. recruit some simmers, I have said I would sim some matches about 4 or 5 times and yet nothing is said and the games are still posted 4 days late.

I know people will get all touchy about my question but why were Ashes scheduled? They sent everything out of order.

Also how much mindless talk about a fantasy game which you do not even play yourself can anyone do. I tried to be active in my team but most members (not naming anyone) come after week's hibernation and say "Sorry I was not here", "Yeah we won :banana2" and then again disappear for weeks.

@Binnu: No mate, no one would even care if that happens. We already have international teams.

Shorter seasons are a better idea.

Maybe change teams up a bit? Anyone who is up for going in a draft can so and then there is a draft?

I understand that the simmers have "lives" (they gotta make money somehow, so being lap dancers is ok), but I think the big delays in the games being simmed has alot to do with it.

Also I don't think the PCPL Season 3 talk should have started till after the Cricsim league ended.
1) Yea, the delays really haven't helped
2) The PCPL was actually schedule to start AFTER the PCCL had ended, but all the delays meant that the draft and stuff went underway during the PCCL season. Should look into avoiding that in the future.

Bring it all into one competition. We have the same people from PCCL as in the PCPL and so new active members miss out while people who haven't logged in for months stay in the teams.

The PCCL and PCPL will stay separate, as one involves Nats, vCash, and is supposed to be short and meaningless, while the other is for those who want to feel a part of a long domestic season.

But I have suggested several times that the PCCL should hold it's signups during the PCPL's drafts, and should hold the drafts during the PCPL season. This way, all the activity that gets attracted by the PCPL can be directed to the PCCL.

I know people will get all touchy about my question but why were Ashes scheduled? They sent everything out of order.

True, the Ashes did throw things off a bit, but it brought some sort of excitement back too. Next time we should involve all the PC members.

For the second part...it's on the individual. At the Donkeys we have fun trying to be creative and bizarre with our posting, and it works.

And regarding the season Length, it can be shortened, but what I think is more pressing is that we be on time with the simming (hiring more simmers will help), and we have several short competitions in between the season like Nat games or Nation of Origin games. Also, more of an incentive to post and win games would be good, maybe a vCash prize (?) or user titles relating to the PCPL, maybe members of the winning team can get special username colours, or a trophy next to their name. Maybe in the user info section their can be a section for 'PCCL side'. Stuff like that to build up the importance of the competition, and hence to build up the following.

Yea, I saw the sign-up thread. That's good, but it should be a regular thing from now on.

Get me some of those Mod Powers too, I already have them in the PCPL section and I see the Cricsim mod forums as it is :p

To be honest, there enough of us "involved," in the CricSim scene (by involved I mean who have access to the mod-forum here, where we can actually talk between us as those who have experience). I'm not one who doesn't want the PCCL to fail just to get the PCPL in a better standing. We have a perfect formula at the moment as far as 2-leagues go, BUT the structure is all wrong. Shorter season + more activities (Betting etc), vCash in the PCCL would be a no-no (as far as paying for squads etc.) as that is best left with the PCPL.

I was up for a complete re-haul of ideas but everyone shot me down. Infact I even had a document with these ideas. Not all of them need to be implemented but some of them might be a good idea. Here it is:

PlanetCricket Cricsim – A New Look

General
* A new look Cricsim which will be more enjoyable, more active and more competitive than ever. It will also take a more serious side to it that will improve the things mentioned. Hopefully it will be able to compete with the likes of Cricket Web and CricSim.com.
* 5 teams – Same as old PCCL but with one removed or a draft with new sides
* Three competitions – Kingfisher 25 Overs Cup, The Rolls Royce Shield and Fosters ‘Super Chilled’ Trophy

The Competitions
The Rolls Royce Shield
* The 5-day format
* Each team plays eachother 3 times (1 home, 1 away, 1 neutral)
* League structure – Final held between the top two teams
* Games played on Monday’s

Fosters ‘Super Chilled’ Trophy
* 50 Overs per side
* Each team plays eachother 6 times (3 home, 3 away)
* League structure – Top team claims title
* Games played twice a week – Saturday’s and Sunday’s

Kingfisher 25 Over Cup
* 25 Overs per side
* Knockout – 1st Round = best of 3 matches, Semi’s and Final
* A neutral final will be held
* Games played mid-season over two weeks

The Averages
* Averages are based on sign-up stats, activity and form
* Players and teams will be rewarded for activity in match threads
* Averages will be updated weekly, depending on form (Average performances per week will determine loss or gain in average)
* However, batsmen will not be allowed to average more than 55 and bowlers no lower than 15.

The Match Threads
* Anybody can post a team for their side, although the captain’s or vice captain’s post will take immediate priority and all others will be ignored.
* Teams must get their teams in within 24 hours of the thread being opened, otherwise they will have to play the same side as the previous match.
* Posts concerning the match or players envolved in the match is encouraged, but any spam will be deleted. This is so that activity can be awarded fairly.

I wrote this before the start of the season and a few things have changed since, such as post activity being rewarded. Obviously the amount of games played would be reduced by a long way.
